8x56 has you know freedom is under attack on so many fronts these days its hard to keep with the freedom haters.. I would urge you and your friends and anyone else who might read this and cares about freedom to call and write your congressman and senators and tell them to say no to FDA regulation of tobacco products. Hasnt the road to the owellian nightmmare gone for enough? Hey man I was checking through pro gun videos and reading some of the absurd comments from the no brainers who want to ban guns. Then I saw yours and that you live in Vermont and own 20 guns. I do as well and I have about the same amount for the same purpose. Hunting and self defense. Anyways. Just glad to finally see someone else with there head screwed on straight.

A militia is a government sponsored group of able bodied men and women from the ages of 17 to 45. The GOVERNMENT, whether it be local, state or federal can formulate militias to repel invasions and crush rebellions. A militia is government sponsored! A private militia (organized by a regular citizen, i.e. yourself) wou.d be viewed as an act of rebellion and treason and you would got to jail, probably for the rest of your life. So, under strict interpretation of the second amendment, it does not give someone the "right" to own a gun to go hunting or for personal protection.

Out of curiosity, how old are you and what do you do for a living?

A gun is a tool. It's purpose is to rapidly accelerate a projectile down the barrel. Everything else is in the hands of the operator. Whether it is used for good or evil is the choice of the operator. I use my guns for hunting but have no qualms dispatching anyone attempting to harm me or mine. I guess this makes me an evil person by stopping an evil person. I live in a rural area and my mausers 2800fps mussel velocity is a lot faster than a police cruiser . And did you know more Americans died in vehiculer accidents this past century than did in military service in all our wars of this time? Cars are evil. Tools of the devil.
