Interestingly, this is our most-watched video worldwide in June, 2008 - but doesn't make the top 10 in the US/Canada.
"Sister Act 2: Back In the Habit" was a somewhat predictable 1993 movie - but with many amazing musical performances. This set of performances is currently the #1 video on BestArts worldwide.
This video includes some of the best music from the film, emphasizing student performances. All of these songs are great:
0:00 His Eye Is On The Sparrow - Tanya Blount 0:30 His Eye Is On The Sparrow - Lauryn Hill and Tanya Blount 1:15 Oh, Happy Day - Ryan Toby, soloist 3:22 Dancing In The Street - Whoopi Goldberg 4:30 Lord, Send A Revival - The Iris Choir, soloist unknown 5:23 Joyful, Joyful - Lauryn Hill, soloist
Available on the 1993 DVD "Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit."
Tanya Blount, Lauryn Hill and Ryan Toby give astonishingly good performances. Lauryn Hill, who was 18 in this film, has built a very successful musical career.
Ryan Toby was 15 when this movie was filmed. His solo in "Oh, Happy Day" was particularly memorable for the high note at 3:01. This E6+ is a rare achievement from a man. Wikipedia has an interesting article on the "whistle register" (above falsetto) that he used to produce this note. Ryan is currently a successful songwriter living in Atlanta.

In 2001, author and artist Maurice Sendak entered into an unusual collaboration with the Pilobolus Dance Company to create "A Selection," a contemporary ballet inspired by true stories of the Holocaust.
This video contains extensive rehearsal footage throughout that illustrates how the dancers themselves participate in the process used to choreograph the work. The collaborative process is so extensive that the dancers all receive a permanent choreography credit. Performance footage is included at 0:00 and 2:15.
Although many dancers are shown, Benjamin Pring and Otis Cook are featured. Don't miss "Bendable Ben" at 6:50-8:05...
The resulting dance piece, "A Selection", is available at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muUcsQel4Qs

This wonderful rendition from Heather Headley of "He Touched Me" will give you chills. This is that rare video that can be watched over and over again.
See more from Heather at http://www.thebestarts.com/heatherheadley/
"He Touched Me" was written by Ira Levin and Milton Schafer for their 1965 musical "Drat! The Cat!" which starred Lesley Ann Warren, Elliott Gould and Beth Howland (who later earned fame in "Company.")
Although the show closed after only 8 performances, Elliott's wife at the time, Barbra Streisand, went on to include the song on 8 albums - including her "Greatest Hits." That's a lot to live up to, but Heather makes the song her own with this beautiful rendition.
Heather has appeared on Broadway in "The Lion King" and won the Tony Award for "Best Actress in a Musical" in 2000 for her role in "Aida." She's been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
Excerpt from the 2000 DVD "My Favorite Broadway: the Love Songs."

In 1999, "Fosse" was nominated for 8 Tony Awards and won 3 - including "Best Musical." The 2001 recording of "Fosse" is one of the best musical theatre DVDs available. Because we uploaded excerpts from "Fosse" when we first created BestArts, many of our subscribers haven't discovered these great gems.
So, we've created a collage of the entire musical, with each excerpt averaging about 20 seconds. We hope you'll watch the entire collage - and then try out the amazing performances. Normally, we'd simply create a "Best of" playlist - but almost every performance here would deserve a place.
In his lifetime, Bob Fosse was nominated for 20 Tony Awards in 12 different musicals, most of which are represented in the musical "Fosse." 8 of Bob's 10 Tony Award wins were for choreography, which noone else has matched.
One performance from the show "Fosse" that is often overlooked is "Mr. Bojangles." The dance wonderfully portrays the idea that no matter our age, we all have a younger spirit inside: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc3Kv4CAUSs
