I'm new to video making, but have been a photographer for many years. At first I made videos using the video mode of my Lumix digital still camera, but then got a Sony DCR-HC96 camcorder.

I have also been a New Age music reviewer, feature writer, editor, and enjoyed putting together themed music albums. So these feed nicely into producing thoughtful little video programs.

For the past 6 years, I've been sole caregiver 24/7 for my 87-year-old mother. Doing these little videos has been a great creative outlet for me, and several videos now pertain to her or her care. "Enforcer Squirrel Makes Someone Happy" is the first of these, and "Mom Watches Mahler's 8th" then "Mom Watches Bach's B minor mass." Two very different programs happened at nearby beaches. "Life's a Beach" is the first program using a Mac and its iMovie HD 6.

Thanks for your concern. There is another drug that might be interfering with mom's mental functioning, one of the cholesterol lowering statin drugs. I might ask her doctor if we can try without for a month to see if there is an improvement. There is a lot of info on the net about this side effect, and the drug companies and FDA are apparently NOT taking this side effect seriously. A relative and a friend both had reactions to the Oxybutynin serious enough to send them to the ER....wonder they hadn't had that reaction, and the drug slowly dulled their mind so that they didn't notice the side effect. All this to help control peeing. For pete's sake.

It's wonderful to see you mother without these awful medicines, but also frightening to think about what some of these "drugs" can do with people...

I took my mother off Ditropan, and after 3 weeks or so, she improved her mental functioning, noticeable to me. Then I was curious last night and asked her if she noticed an improvement in her memory lately...and she launched into a speech about how a week ago, she suddenly WOKE UP.
She gave a whole speech, with words, phrases, sentences...paragraphs. After years of one syllable and grunting, and pointing. I stopped her speech and got out my camera and recorded it again. You won't believe it. 6.5 years of solo caregiving 24/7...and it was a damned DRUG SIDE EFFECT? I am thrilled, but also pretty pissed. More later.

Love all of the nature video's. There is so much beauty in Gods' universe!
So glad your Mother can enjoy your trips out. I cared for my 92 yr old Mother-in-law until the end. It is an enormous job but the rewards are great. May God bless you!

That's lucky for your mother. My grandmother is only 7 years younger and she's in great health, too, minus a bad knee.

I found your account via the video of your mom watching MTT conduct Mahler's 8th, and I've seen Aldort's channel before. I discovered his when I searched for some Dvorak cello concerto videos (LOVE that piece :D).

Thank you for looking at the videos of my mom, and for "getting it." She's in good health and humor...just got thumbs up from her doctor a few days ago at her checkup. More videos to come! -carol
