ahh thats too bad D= you'll probally need to get the pro version of vegas 9 for it then, chroma keyer is still good to use for that sort of thing =]

um nope its just vegas 7 ^^
i dont know if vegas 9 is structured the same way as vegas, but if it is then to mask you just open up the event pan/crop thingy and there should be a button that says mask, select that and then plot points around the character you want to cut out (like dot-to-dot) and if the character is moving, you need to do that frame by frame, its frustrating xD but its worth it =]
you can also use an effect called chroma keyer if the background is the one colour, its much faster and easyier =] but doesnt have the same effect as masking ^_^ hope that makes sense =] if ye still need help, let me know and i will try my best to explain ^_^
