From the West Coast of America comes the young American Shetland Fiddler Brandon Edgar. A New young passionate musician who has just started amazing ladies, gents and trows.... with his passionate fiddle style. Brandon Edgar's passionate style is rhythmic, powerful, with a wee touch of swing which is instantly recognizable. In some hopes of following the tradition of the late Tom Anderson who was the guru of Shetland Fiddle playing, Brandon hope's to spread the tradition of this highly energetic Fiddle style. Brandon is influenced by notable fiddlers such as Aly Bain, Chris Stout Alasdair Fraser, Eileen Ivers, Natalie MacMaster, Martin Hayes and even Jazz Sax player John Coltrane. Brandon is part of a vibrant new generation of Southern Californian Celtic Musicians and was and still may be noted to be the only Shetland Styled Fiddle player in California. Brandon has lent his talents to many keepers of the Celtic Traditions such as the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles, Highland Sun, The Dublin 4, Seven and his own late musical projects like Dearrsach, and Tyrm. His Shetlandic fiddle style lends rhythm and groove to his signature sound bringing to light the term (Shetland Swing) said to be inherit in the Shetland folk tradition.
