Like many gamers who play timing-heavy games, I've been wary to upgrade to an HDTV because of the inherent lag created on many brands. Lag even exists with HD signals on some TVs, but I had come to believe it *always* existed on older (480i) consoles. I had done more than a year of research and had been disappointed. My options were to import a $2000 dedicated box from Japan to do special upscaling, or to "deal with it".
I came across this TV whose "game mode" actually works as it should. I know almost all TVs released today have a "game mode", but all the ones I've encountered still leave behind at least 30-40 milliseconds of lag (or more), which is just enough to make timing-heavy games unplayable. This Sharp Aquos (model number LC-42D64U) is *perfect* in game mode, even using old 480i signals. I decided I had to prove it! If you're like me and absolutely refuse to settle for even 1 frame of lag, this is YOUR TV. Buy it.
Games shown: - 3rd Strike: I do some combos and try some parrying on my CRT vs my new HDTV (both in game mode and in other modes). Played on PS2 through components (even though it's 480i). Zero lag in game mode. - Smash Bros Melee: Played on Wii through components. Zero lag. - Smash Bros Brawl: Played on Wii through components. Zero lag. - Perfect Dark: Played on N64 through composite (those red/yellow/white cables). Zero lag in game mode. - beatmania IIDX: Played on PS2 through components (despite being 480i). Zero lag.

In this video, I showcase how Link and Ganondorf work, including their move properties and some strategies that might be incorporated into their eventual metagame. I also show how their moves changed from Melee.
I made this video on the Japanese game before the US release, so there is still much to learn about these characters. I'm sure these videos will be obsolete in a year!
Some notes about Ganon we forgot to mention due to time: his down-air spikes. His up-B is still the air grab/throw thing from Melee, but it doesn't have any KO ability. If you hit with the very top of it, however, Ganondorf will hit you with his outstretched fist instead of grabbing you.

Looks like I forgot to do Wario's neutral B move. He just opens his mouth, and if it connects, he starts to bite on the player before he spits them out after a few chomps. It's not too special, which is probably why I forgot to cover it!
I apologize for the glare on the TV. We usually record these in the evening, but we did this one in the afternoon, and we didn't realize the position the camera was set at received some glare. It doesn't ruin the video, though, thankfully.

I believe both these characters are considerably better than they were in Melee.

This video features my good friend Psyrell; now with more Luigi plushie cameos!
Notes about Toon Link's (or any character with a dive kick) d-air: if you're launched upwards in Brawl, but use a move that sends you straight down, they will "cancel each other out" and you either won't move vertically at all, or you'll move according to your previous trajectory. If you do it twice in the air, though, the second time you will dive kick properly.
Unfortunately, I wasted a lot of time trying to set up Diddy's spike. Whenever I try playing with the camera running, I always have this problem. I kind of look like a scrub in the middle for a bit, so sorry about that!

In this video, I showcase how Wolf works, including his move properties and what I believe will be key strategies to learn with him in the long run.
I devoted a full video to Wolf because he's a cool character and a lot of people wanted to see how he works. He plays unlike any of the other space animals... he's more of a combo/juggle character like Sheik was in Melee than a true space animal, but he certainly has the space animal aura about him.
I'm not very satisfied with this video. Wolf has a ton of combo potential, and we try to show it in the last 2 minutes by doing some combat and trying to land some combos, but we don't land anything too spectacular. I didn't feel like doing the entire movie over again, but you can use your imagination to envision how a lot of the combos were supposed to work. It's not too hard; everything seems to link into everything else with this guy, but we just had poor execution.
Wolf is fun, and definitely strong!

I made this video only a few days after the Japanese version came out, and it's entirely possible everything I say in this video regarding strategies/strengths/weaknesses will turn out to be completely wrong in the long run. This seems to be especially true of the space animal characters.

Despite me coming into this video with a plan, written on paper, I couldn't show all of ZSS's moves in this video, so be sure to watch part 2 as well!
