Interests and Hobbies: Gang Banging Stories Audio and Video Project What is Gang Banging Stories? Gang Banging Stories is an audio and video project developed by a 17 year old, male, by the name of Yusuf Shabazz Jr. in 2004. This project began as an independent short film about teenage gang banger in Newark Newark New Jersey. Yusuf traveled to various neighborhoods throughout Newark NJ on a mission to get as many stories about his peers as he possibly could. In the process of gaining interviews from gang members, he noticed the large amount of aspiring hip-hop (rap) artist that wanted to become apart of his project. Gang Banging Stories was then formed into a artist promotion/bate and switch gang prevention/intervention effort. "I learn allot of what I know from Timothy Brown, the Street Warriors and Gary Barat founder of the Barat Foundation" Yusuf said as he continued assist in the development of a street team meeting. Now at the age of 21, Yusuf works with art risk teens in his community to keep them on the right track. "All of the teens in this team love Yusuf because he keeps it real, he is all ways him self and he don't try to be like no body else." is what a inspiring dancer said when asked "What do you think about Yusuf Shabazz?" The videos presented in Gang Banging Stories are raw and straight to the point. He shows the videos to street teams to get a response to make it more impacting. "Practice makes perfect... I just have to continue to work at it and stay around people that I can learn from and build with." said Yusuf. Some people look up to Lil-wayne, who has been a major impact on the Bloods movement nation wide. Yusuf looks up to Malcolm X Shabazz and those who came before him and died striving for greatness.
