This is the indie music page of singer / songwriter Nijole (pronounced Neola) Sparkis, who writes alternative folk / pop songs with world music instrumentation, Lithuanian background vocals, and spiritual lyrics, resulting in a haunting yet peaceful style uniquely her own.
Nijole Sparkis blends the pop influences she grew up on, with the sounds of Lithuanian choirs from her Chicago community, to create a transcendental dream-pop style all her own.

Acting and singing her way through childhood, she graduated magna cum laude with a Music degree from De Paul University and toured the Midwest before moving to Los Angeles. Performing in clubs and festivals while still acting in performance art shows and college films, Nijole developed a unique style of writing, emphasizing the art of music rather than the formula.

She eventually opened her own voice teaching studio, The Vocal Point, and went on to teach singing for Disney TV, as well as the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, upon which the popular Actor's Studio TV show is based. Along the way, she became passionate about revealing the transcendental through art, and focuses her lyrics in a way to bring about inner transformation in the listener.

Nijole has sung the theme song for the "Timothy Leary's Dead" DVD, and songs from her latest CD are played regularly on L.A.'s #1 Rock radio station by legendary DJ Jim Ladd. A music video she created, using Flash and her travel photos, was featured on Comcast Cable TV's Music On Demand service, Harmony Channel. She also recently wrote and recorded vocals for 2 CD projects which feature Jon Anderson, lead singer of rock super-group Yes. The first project entitled "Ritual Path" is available at Barnes & Noble stores, and elsewhere. The second album is scheduled for release later in 2008.

Nijole's solo CD "Parallel Universe" is available at CD Baby.com, Amazon.com, eMusic.com and iTunes. She also has a page at www.myspace.com/nijolesparkis.
