GEORGE HARRISON - Born into a working-class family, George Harrison attended Dovedale Primary School, three years behind John Lennon. In 1954 he entered Liverpool Institute, a grade behind Paul McCartney. In 1956, at the height of Britain's skiffle craze, Harrison formed his first group, the Rebels. He started jamming occasionally with his new acquaintance McCartney, and in 1958 McCartney introduced him to Lennon. John Lees and Stuart "Woolly" Wolstenholme met at Oldham Art School, and formed a band called The Sorcerers, which evolved into The Keepers. JOHN PAYNE - Lead singer/bassist John Payne was the voice of rock supergroup Asia between 1992 and 2006. Replacing frontman John Wetton he went on record five studio albums with the group until keysman Geoff Downes joined a reunion of the 'original' 1980s line-up. A seasoned session pro, composer and record producer he has written music for movies and TV and worked with some of the biggest names in rock. GEOFF DOWNES - Keyboard maestro Geoff Downes (born August 25, 1952, Stockport, UK) is probably best known for his work with techno pop stars The Buggles, veteran prog legends Yes, rock supergroup Asia and for entering the 'Gunness Book Of Records' for performing with more keyboards on stage than anybody else. The son of musical parents, he graduated from music college in Leeds before moving to London where he played sessions and composed advertising jingles. Hooking up with Trevor Horn they formed The Buggles who earned themselves a place in the annals of rock for having the first video played on MTV with their 1979 UK Number 1 hit 'Video Killed The Radio Star'. By another twist of fate he (along with Horn) eventually ended up in Yes (replacing Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman) for 1980's 'Drama' album and world tour, before Downes subsequently joined forces with Steve Howe, Carl Palmer and John Wetton to form Asia in 1981. Their eponymous debut album was a mega-selling global success and recording and touring work 'under that name' has formed the nucleus of his career since (being the only 'original' member to steer the group during the 1990s). Besides ongoing work with Asia, he has also recorded numerous solo albums and collaborated with many other artists, including Glenn Hughes, Kate Bush, Greg Lake, Mike Oldfield, GTR and Agnetha Fältskog of ABBA.

ASIA - Featuring members of veteran Seventies rock acts Yes (Steve Howe & Geoff Downes), King Crimson (John Wetton) and Emerson Lake & Palmer (Carl Palmer), Asia were the first Prog Rock 'supergroup' of the 1980s and for a brief period reigned supreme. Their 1982 self-titled debut album 'Asia' got them to the top of the charts in the US thanks to massive MTV exposure of the singles, 'Heat Of The Moment', 'Only Time Will Tell' and 'Sole Survivor'. Likewise 1983's 'Alpha', their second album, also faired well producing a couple of hits in 'Don't Cry' and 'The Smile Has Left Your Eyes'. However following an 'internal' line-up re-shuffle 1985's 'Astra' failed to hit the same commercial mark and the group disbanded only to reunite in 1990 for a European tour including two sold-out dates in front of 20,000 fans in Moscow. With the departure of John Wetton a new Asia (with singer John Payne) was born and toured sporadically during the 1990s in support of some competent releases all beginning with the letter 'A' ('Aqua', 'Aria', 'Arena' and 'Aura' to name but a few) plus numerous live and compilation affairs. As of 2008 the return of the 1980's line-up has rekindled the 'original' flame with the release of a new album 'Phoenix' and a worldwide tour.

RUSS BALLARD - Renowned British singer/songwriter Russ Ballard (born October 31, 1945 in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, UK) began his musical career with Buster Meikle & The Day Breakers, together with his older brother Ray. After a stint with The Roulettes (backing Adam Faith), he then went on to join Unit 4 + 2 in the early 1960s, before becoming the lead singer and guitarist of Argent, writing their hit 'God Gave Rock And Roll To You' (which would later be covered by both Petra and Kiss). Leaving Argent in 1973 he pursued a solo/songwriting/production career (producing big hits for Three Dog Night, Rainbow and Hot Chocolate) and working with artists such as America, Bad English, Elkie Brooks, Roger Daltrey, ABBA singers Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog, and former Zombie Colin Blunstone. His only US singles chart entry under his own name is 'On The Rebound', which hit the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 58 in 1980 while the song 'Voices' (from the album 'Russ Ballard') has since become something of a 'classic' since it was featured on US hit TV show Miami Vice.

ROD ARGENT - Keyboardist/songwriter Rod Argent spent the 1960s as a crucial part of British Invasion popsters The Zombies, and later moved on to embrace album rock as leader of his own band, Argent. He was born June 14, 1945, in St. Alban's, England; aside from about two years of lessons, he was a largely self-taught pianist. He discovered rock 'n' roll at 11 through his cousin's Elvis Presley records, but also grew up appreciating classical music and jazz, and his study of those forms would lend his future pop compositions a definite melodic and harmonic sophistication. When Argent disbanded in 1976, he immersed himself in session work in an effort to expand his musical range. Over the next few years, he recorded with The Who, Roger Daltrey, John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Gary Moore, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and old Zombie cohort Colin Blunstone. In 1978, he released his first solo album, 'Moving Home', and two years later, he wrote the stage musical 'Masquerade', which premiered in London in 1982. After working with British jazz saxophonist Barbara Thompson, Argent composed music for British TV during the mid-'80s, and in 1987 formed a production partnership with ex-Van Morrison drummer Peter Van Hooke. Together they produced successful and acclaimed records by Tanita Tikaram, Nanci Griffith, Joshua Kadison, and Jules Shear, among others. Additionally, Argent broke a decade's worth of silence as a solo artist with 1988's 'Red House'. Ten years later, he returned with an album of solo piano performances titled 'Classically Speaking'.
