"I still find each day too short for all the thoughts I want to think, all the walks I want to take, all the books I want to read, and all the friends I want to see."
--John Burroughs
Name: Ryan
Age: 35
I have a deep sense of wonder about the earth and the universe. I think this feeling resembles spirituality. Always ask questions and search for your own answers. Be wary of religious and political dogma. Be grateful for every moment . . . even the hard ones . . . and love the people around you.

The Eagle Nebula is home to "The Pillars of Creation", a stellar nursery approximately 7000 light years from Earth in the constellation Serpens. The ultraviolet light of bright stars evaporate molecular hydrogen and dust leaving behind dense pillars that house embryonic stars. Each cocoon is the size of our solar system. The Horsehead Nebula and the Orion Nebula are other places of star formation.

CARL SAGAN:
"For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love."

Ron Paul on Homosexuality
Also, hatred of gays still exists. I was called a faggot at work last week by a coworker who self-identifies as a Christian. I don't have to travel very far down the rabbit hole to see what informs her behavior. I accept that people don't have to like me or agree with me. I do have the right to be treated like a human being. Most human beings want to be treated with respect in the absence of hostility and violence. (5 days ago)

I don't have a problem with you having your beliefs so long as you don't try to legislate your beliefs on top of my freedoms. You assert that homosexuality is wrong and that people aren't meant to be this way. However, homosexuality occurs in nature and in different animal species. Your comment lacks the reasoning to support your claim. (5 days ago)

Thank you for the video brouhajoe. Well thought and evidence based. (1 week ago)

What where you doing on 9/11?
My neighbor came over and sat at my kitchen table and I made us a pot of coffee. Outside the sky was severe blue. Not a cloud in sight. Bright sun rising. Inside my stomach was falling like an elevator. I was thinking to myself that I had just come from there five days ago and wondering how could rescue get to all the trapped people. When the south tower collapsed I went to the bathroom and threw up. (1 week ago)

My neighbor came over and sat at my kitchen table and I made us a pot of coffee. The sky outside was severe blue. A beautiful day. Not a cloud in sight. Bright glaring sun rising in the east. I called my father in Phoenix and then my mother. I put my hands on my neighbor's shoulders as the south tower collapsed. I went to the bathroom and threw up. (1 week ago)

Theism and deism are religious attitudes that have not been historically challenged nearly as much as the opposite: disbelief.
Why do we do science? Beyond altruistic and self-aggrandizing motivations, many of our best scientists work long hours seeking the electric thrill that comes only from learning something that nobody knew before.
