Song: Enya - Ebudae
In hyperlexia, a child spontaneously and precociously masters single-word reading. It can be viewed as a superability, that is, word recognition ability far above expected levels. The more common definition also includes difficulties with comprehension of printed material beyond or even at the single-word level. Many hyperlexics also have trouble understanding speech. Most or perhaps all children with hyperlexia also lie on the autism spectrum.
Hyperlexic children are often fascinated by letters and numbers. They are extremely good at decoding language and thus often become very early readers. Some hyperlexic children learn to spell long words (such as elephant) before they are two and learn to read whole sentences before they turn three. An fMRI study of a single child showed that hyperlexia may be the neurological opposite of dyslexia.
Often, hyperlexic children will have a precocious ability to read but will learn to speak only by rote and heavy repetition, and may also have difficulty learning the rules of language from examples or from trial and error, which may result in social problems.
Despite hyperlexic children's precocious reading ability, they may struggle to communicate. Their language may develop using echolalia, often repeating words and sentences. Often, the child has a large vocabulary and can identify many objects and pictures, but cannot put their language skills to good use. Spontaneous language is lacking and their pragmatic speech is delayed. Hyperlexic children often struggle with Who? What? Where? Why? and How? questions. Between the ages of 4 and 5 many children make great strides in communicating.
Social skills often lag tremendously. Hyperlexic children often have far less interest in playing with other children than do their peers.

Diszlexia:
Dyslexia:
Dyslexia is a learning disability that manifests primarily as a difficulty with written language, particularly with reading and spelling. It is separate and distinct from reading difficulties resulting from other causes, such as a non-neurological deficiency with vision or hearing, or from poor or inadequate reading instruction. Evidence also suggests that dyslexia results from differences in how the brain processes written and/or spoken language. Although dyslexia is the result of a neurological difference, it is not an intellectual disability. Dyslexia occurs at all levels of intelligence.
The word dyslexia comes from the Greek words δυσ- dys- ("impaired") and λέξις lexis ("word"). People with dyslexia are called dyslexic or dyslectic.

AP - Doctors have separated 10-month-old conjoined twin boys in a hospital in central India, a news report says.
The surgery lasted five hours and the baby boys, who were joined at the stomach, were doing well, the Press Trust of India news agency quoted Ashok Sharma, head of the surgery department of the Raipur Medical College, as saying.
"All the health parameters are OK. We see a good chance of their survival," said Sharma, who headed the team of surgeons.
But he said the next 48 hours were critical for the boys.
During the surgery, the liver, pancreas and the sternum (breastbone) of the boys were separated without any complications, Sharma said.
The surgery was done in Raipur, the capital of central Indian state of Chattisgarh.
The babies shared a common liver and pancreas along with some other body parts, but their hearts and urinary organs were separate, PTI quoted M P Pujhari, the hospital deputy superintendent, as saying.
The parents of the boys, Ram and Lakshman, are poor farm labourers in a village in Chhattisgarh state.
PTI said Tuesday's was the fourth surgery of its kind performed in India.

Kendra Deene Herrin and Maliyah Mae Herrin, (born February 26, 2002), are former conjoined twins. They were separated in August 2006. They were the first set of conjoined twins to be separated to share a kidney. Kendra retained their shared kidney following the separation surgery, while Maliyah Herrin underwent dialysis until she was transplanted with a kidney donated by her mother in April 2007.
Prior to the separation surgery, medical ethicists in the United States and in Europe discussed whether it was ethical to separate the twins because of the additional risk to Maliyah. Their family and doctors believed separation surgery would give both girls their best chance to live a normal life.
The Herrin twins were approximately four and a half years old when they were separated in an operation that began at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2006, lasted nearly 18 hours, and involved six surgeons. Surgery then continued on the girls in two separate operations lasting up to eight more hours into the morning of August 8th. The twins went home from hospital to their family on September 17, 2006.
Kendra retained the single kidney which the twins had shared. Maliyah immediately began hemodialysis, which continued until April 3, 2007, when she was transplanted with a kidney donated by her 26-year-old mother, Erin. Maliyah was reported to be doing well following the transplant, as was her mother.
