I am 47 years old (I know, I really DO look like I am 29, and so I am holding there), and love to learn, whether through books, articles, etc., in other words, reading, as well as through experience.

I am LDS, and have been all my life. Not the Peter Priesthood type, but an LDS none the same.

I teach the Elder's Quorum. (They haven't kicked me out yet for translating out the Hebrew and Greek scriptures, so so far, I am in the good - GRIN!)

I have lived here in Idaho all my life, and love it here.

I believe in studying out the best of all religions, all sciences, etc., and love to put together ideas from 40 or more different sources, and viewpoints, in order to see if underlying patterns, thoughts, or new interpretations come about.

Inevitably they do, and they have done so for over 30 years with me, so now I am to the point where I share my insights and interpretations. I love to learn, and love to share.

My wife called me the "Backyard Professor" and it stuck instantly with everyone, so here I am, the Backyard Professor. I have a B.S. from Idaho State University in History.

I love learning languages, and work on Hebrew, Greek, Latin, German, French, Egyptian Hieroglyphic, Arabic, Coptic, and Sanskrit, as I have time.

I also love making my wood art with my scrollsaw.
Country: United States
Interests and Hobbies: I love to research religions, ancient texts, Mormonism, and do woodart. I love to video record the beauty of the world and teach the power of ancient religious, philosophical, and scientific ideas.

Interesting series.
A powerful minded man, Brigham was. I really enjoyed Hugh Nibley's book "Brother Brigham Challenges the Saints." It gave me numerous new perspectives to work with. Thanks for sharing this.
Now THAT'S FUN! Thanks....... and yes, I am smiling! LOL! President Hinckley was awesome.
I also find the Book of Mormon to be a rather powerful book, one I read and read and read again...

Beautiful video! Thanks!

Discussion of the Dead Sea Scrolls and how they have changed our perceptions of not only the Book of Mormon, but the Bible as well.
Here is my new podcast discussing the ancient Council of the Gods in ancient Israel. I utilize archaeological, biblical scholarship, and linguistic materials showing that Mormonism's restoration of this ancient institution is not erroneous as Jim Adams in The New Mormon Challenge has asserted in his sarcastically named article "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Joseph Smith?" contends.

I delivered a lecture last night at the local Institute about the Book of Abraham Facsimiles. I shall be uploading them this weekend. The audience seemed very appreciative of the info. I think you all shall enjoy them also.

Um, at the appearance ofbeing extremely self serviing, you could always begin with these videos I have produced. There is mucho plenty here to see what the scriptures are saying. On the other hand, google FAIR or FARMS and read their materials. It is really incredible what they have produced. Hope that helps.

That would be GREAT. I was googling the other day and I ran into this book. "Echoes of Eden: Genesis 2-3 and symbolism of the eden Garden in biblical Hebrew Literature" Its over 500 pages long! Unfortunately I haven't read the book. I know David bokovoy also has covered some elements. I enjoyed his ideas regarding the garden and 'the divine gardener' as a symbol for the divine king. Very interesting. Any way Keep up the good work.

Hey Backyard professor. I find that one of the most erroneous misconceptions brought up by protestants is that the sin of Adam was the fact that he bought into the lie of becoming like God, and the evil of the tree of knowledge, and the evilness of the fall. We see it as a necessary step towards eternal progression, but I think it is an angle you haven't covered yet. The concept of the garden story within its ancient west semetic context. I also just bought the book learning Biblical Hebrew by Dobson. How is he in comparison to other books? What are the best resources on learning Hebrew. you mentioned Dobson so I figured he would be a good place to start.

Ostler is a SCREAMIN read isn't he? I am just finishing up Mullen's book on the Council as well as re-reading Hesier's Doctoral Dissertation. I also read today Nibley's 3 lectures in his Pearl of Great Price class about the Grand Council and the Egyptian angles from the Shabako Stone! VERY interesting! I shall make some vids of that as well. Sooooooo many books, so little time! lol.......

I am definitely enjoying your vids. I just finished Blake T. Ostlers of God and GOds and I read the origins of biblical monotheism. I loved it. I preferred blakes first half. I have a hard time wrapping my head around trinitarian notions. Greek Metaphysics makes no sense and I just can't seem to understand it. Oh well.
