anti4kids2000, you seem to be forgetting that Dragon Ball was first getting dubbed in the mid-'90s. While I think DVD might've been around at the time, it certainly had yet to catch on. Anime, if a series was localized at all, would come out on VHS, where the format would restrict each tape to being dub-only or sub-only (while rarely a series would get separate releases for both). Anime was extremely niche, and the only ones that were even slightly well-known were ones that aired edited as children's programming. With this in mind, one can't complain too much about Dragon Ball's treatment (at least they didn't have that "other dimension" crap that DBZ had), and it actually could've been a success. The problem? Some fucktard thought it'd be a great idea to restrict it to an early morning time slot.

When FUNimation first had Dragonball, they should done stuck with Dragonball first. Also, the should of used accurate translation and non bad editing. I don't see the underwear edit a problem. They should used the Original soundtrack. Sure, it wasn't a hit, but once it gets to the fighting, it will become popular. Then, they should release the manga. I don't mind them releasing it in comic book format. As long as I can understand it. Then, when they get to Dragonball Z, they should of used accurate dialogue. Not any of this "Any many miny moe" crap. They should not skip episodes or combine them. All they have to do is hire fitting voices, translate the script in English. They can edit lots of blood. They should also used the original soundtrack. Hell could be edited to Heck, not HFIL. In GT, they should just start with the first episode. They should translate the openings and endings, or put the original
Japanese themes Then later on, they can release uncut dvd's.

In my opinion, DBZ's dub is similar to Yugioh's for me. To me, its enjoyable, and even likable at points, but it suffers from an enormous amount of americanization thus making it inferior to the original.

However, DBGT's dub (once again, similar to Yugioh gx) is pretty much unwatchable as it sucks in pretty much every single way, not to mention, neither GT nor GX was THAT great to begin with.

On this whole issue I belive you shouldn't hate something based on unfounded claims. As for fanboys, again most media is ment to entertain us or inform us of an issue. Anime and manga fall under the entertainment section. They are ment to tell us stories and maybe send a good message. So I feel you shouldn't take any manga or anime too seriously otherwise you're forgeting why you started watching it in the first place: to entertain.
That's why when I see people flaming on other people over their opinions of anime and manga I think: Aren't you takeing this too seriously?
