Varsity House Performance is dedicated to the development of speed, strength, power and performance. We use scientific periodization training based on the Russian Conjugate (Westside Barbell) style of training. This system allows us to train multiple aspects of strength including, maximum effort strength, power, hypertrophy and endurance in a single training week instead of dividing them into separate lengthy training cycles. We believe that all athletes, no matter their age or skill level, can improve their ability on the field by developing themselves physically off the field. At Varsity House, strength training takes many forms, from the traditional squats and bench press to the more non-traditional strongman style of training like sled pulling, tire flipping, heavy sandbag work and even pushing a truck around the parking lot. This style of training helps to develop athletes with "real strength" not just "weight-room strength."

Here are some great jump drills for building power, and some reactive drills for quickness.
This is a series of videos that follow the training and progression of one of the hardest working athletes I have ever had the pleasure to train. We will follow Brian, a wrestler from NY, through his preseason training. We started in September and will finish mid November. Good luck SCHWARTZ!!!
These are just a few of the great videos and pics I took while I was out at Westside Barbell and the Elite FTS Compound earlier this May. It was a truly profound experience to train and be coached at Westside by Louie Simmons and his crew of champion power lifters. I also went to the Elite FTS seminar and had the opportunity to train with and interact with by Dave Tate, Jim Wendler, Justin Harris, Joe DeFranco, James Smith and more. I learned much about myself as an athlete and as a coach. The training environments at both places were OFF THE CHARTS!!! My thanks and gratitude to Louie, Amy Weisburger, Jay Fry, Mike Wolfe, Phil Harrington, Gritter and the rest of the WSBB gang for spending so much of your time with us, and allowing us to train with you. Also thanks to Dave Tate and the Elite FTS crew for putting together another great hands on seminar. Can't wait until the next time!
