Yung Joc - BooKoo [New]
The millennium hip-hop world is all about the pride, the culture, and the experience of the South. As the time ushered in a new age, so did it also ordain Southern hip-hop, particularly that of Atlanta, as one of its most fertile breeding grounds for producing crops of prolific rappers. These artists flip a mellifluous vernacular and drawl when articulating some of the most colorful stories about growing up in southern ghettos--be they city or rural. No matter how edgy or boastful some of these tales might be, most of the time they are necessary for redefining and broadening the musical landscape.
Adding his chameleon-like style to the Peach State's field of offerings is Atlanta-born Yung Joc. After grinding in the streets and doing what he had to do to maintain his rap credibility, the College Park/SWATS-bred MC is getting his chance to shine through the tutelage of Block Entertainment/Bad Boy South. Poised as Atlanta's next big hip-hop star, Yung Joc is set to break topsoil and emerge fully-grown into hip-hop culture's mainstream.
Yung Joc, a.k.a. Jasiel Robinson, was "a mischievous child," as he puts it. "I had a smart mouth," he laughs. His fair share of trouble ranged from fighting in school to getting kicked out of one and having to graduate from another. He's also been arrested, a hiccup that resulted in a stint of jail time. On the flipside, however, Joc is extremely passionate and determined to make a better life for himself, his family, and his comrades. "I'm not scared of anything so I never back down." His commitment to hip-hop culture is also unwaivered.
Joc was 10 years old when artists such as Run DMC, Dana Dane, Ice-T, Slick Rick, and LL Cool J sparked his interests in rap music. "Once I got a little older, my hip-hop inspirations came from Outkast, Goodie Mob, Tupac, and the Notorious B.I.G.," he explains. "By then, I realized that I could do some of the same things these cats were doing and use my situations to catapult me into other opportunities."
The door to that opportunity opened one fateful night when word got to Block Entertainment that a young 23-year-old rapper named Yung Joc was bringin' the house down at the historic Royal Peacock, the same place legends like Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin took the stage. Interested in observing the unsigned hype's original presence and rhyme delivery, Block attended Joc's show. "He had everybody leaning and rocking side-to-side," Block vividly remembers. "I signed him immediately."
"Block assured me that he would give me the space to become a star," Joc concedes. "Since making everything official, I been on the grind even more than I was before." His album, New Joc City, is set for a summer release.
Joc's celebrity is already on the rise. He has e'rybody and dey grandmamma chanting, "It's goin dooowwwnn," an anthem that he recorded so that the young, the old, and the southern thug with a swagger could all feel. Other destined-to-be hits include "Patrón," a hyped, but mid-tempo track that finds Yung Joc sampling himself throughout the song's hook. Another is the Chino Dollar-produced "Dope Boy Magic," on which Joc delivers poignant verses about upgrading one's hustle and flow. He relies on first-hand experiences to make his points clear and penetrable. "First Time" presents Joc's intimate side. Produced by Carlos and DaDa, the track is a slow-tuned arrangement that dances around Yung Joc's reflections on a first love.
Joc's distinct voice and remarkable ability to shape his flow has won him respect among hip-hop fans and aficionados alike. He's been on the bill with artists such as 8Ball & MJG, Slim Thug, Young Jeezy, and Keyshia Cole. It is with an unyielding spirit and energetic presence that Yung Joc will step into a promising music career that is destined to bring him fame and fortune.

Best Kept Secret 3
Jody Breeze's BiographyJody Breeze (born Jacoby White in 1984 in Griffin, Georgia) is an American member of the rap group Boyz N Da Hood. Along with Big Gee, Big Duke, and Gorilla Zoe. He now has a solo deal with Jazze Pha and Block Entertainment on Bad Boy South. During his senior year of high school, Jody Breeze found himself in a string of uncomfortable situations. The Griffin, Georgia native's grades were slipping, so he couldn't play his favorite sport of basketball. He also became a father. Realizing that he needed to make a change, Jody turned to one of his other hobbies Jody redirected his focus to rapping and entered a rap battle at a car show in nearby Macon, Georgia. With lyrics that overflowed with sidesplitting humor, playeristic realism and gruff gangsterism, Jody slaughtered the competition. Industry veteran Noonie, who works with producer Jazze Pha, was in Macon and was blown away by Jody's microphone skills and lyrical polish. Noonie approached Jody and the two hit it off. Within hours, Noonie was driving Jody to Atlanta to meet Jazze Pha. That night, Jody attended the album release party for T.I., where he met with Jazze Pha, as well as such rap heavyweights as P.Diddy, Lil Jon, 8 Ball & MJG. "My whole life changed in one day" as Jody recalls. "Within a blink of an eye. It was that fast. I thought I was dreaming, for real. I could have went home happy then." But fortunately for hip-hop fans, Jody's story gets much deeper. Less than three weeks after the T.I. party, Jody moved to Atlanta to begin recording his debut album with Jazze Pha, who, like Noonie, was impressed by Jody's natural talent. "Jody is pure hood lyricism at its finest," Jazze says. "I think he truly just defines the views of a real young street hustler. A lot of rappers rap, but he gets it. He understands what makes rap work." Jazze's words are backed up by Jody Breeze's debut album, A Day In The Life Of Jody Breeze. The album features production from Jazze Pha, Lil Jon & Mannie Fresh as well as guest appearances from Eightball, Trick Daddy, Sean Paul (Youngbloodz), Mannie Fresh, Juvenile, Slim Thug & Pastor Troy. Jody gives listeners a good introduction to his lifestyle on the flavorful "White Tee" produced by Jazze Pha, featuring Mannie Fresh on the chorus. This high-octane cut showcases Jody's uncanny ability to combine humor, a keen sense of detail and street life into songs that bounce as hard as they thump. His player side comes to light on "Stay Fresh", a clever play off of Floetry "Say Yes" and "Never Been With A Thug" where he devilishly proclaims that he's more single than a man on first base. Even though later he explains his player ways. He is confident that it will appear equally to both males and females. "I think the ladies are going to like it because I'm telling the truth," he says. "I got the song from one of my ex-chicks. She was on that so I made a song about it." Jody then teams with Trick Daddy and Sean Paul on the explosive "AK's & Chevrolets." A gritty ode to life in the trap, while Jody & Pastor Troy deliver a lyrical knock-out on the ultra-hyper, Lil Jon produced track "Take It Outside." Showing his artistic reach, Jody also teams with Eightball on the rock-inspired track "Ballin My Life Away." Growing up in Griffin, Georgia, a small rural town about 40 miles south of Atlanta, Jody always dreamed of being a star. But he thought his calling was basketball. In fact, even though he started rapping when he was about 7, he normally wrote poems and rap just to keep busy and to try to impress girls. But when his hoop dreams got derailed, Jody decided to use his love for such comedians as Bernie Mac, his first-hand knowledge of life in the Dirty South and his knack for writing stories and poems to his advantage. Within months, Jody took the fateful trip to the Macon car show. A star rapper was in the making. "Ever since I was a little kid, I felt like I was going to be on TV," Jody says. "Now that I finna be on TV, it's finna go down. For real." Now, Jody Breeze is ready to make his dream a reality. Get ready for hip-hop's newest and most interesting star. "People say they tired of people saying the same of things," Jody says. "Try to be different. Welcome to A Day In The Life Of Jody Breeze."

Full Biography
Equally rooted in gospel, soul, and hip-hop, 112 were the first and most successful urban vocal group to emerge from Sean "Puffy" Combs' Bad Boy Records roster. Not only was the group's eponymous 1996 debut popular, but the group could be heard on records by such Bad Boy artists as Mase and the Notorious B.I.G. Unlike most artists on Bad Boy, 112's image was clean, pure, and wholesome (initially, at least), which helped the group cross over to a more mainstream audience. The four members of 112 -- Marvin, Daron, Q, and Mike -- met each other while attending high school in Atlanta, GA. The quartet began to play talent shows at school and local churches, eventually gaining the attention of Courtney Sills and Kevin Wales, who soon became the group's managers. Sills and Wales brought 112 to the attention of Sean "Puffy" Combs at Bad Boy Records. Combs signed on as the executive producer of 112's eponymous debut album, which featured songs the group co-wrote with such professional songwriters as Stevie J, Wayna Morris of Boyz II Men, and Combs himself. "Only You," the group's debut single, was released in the summer of 1996 and climbed to number three on the R&B charts, peaking at number 13 on the pop charts. 112 was released in late 1996, and it steadily worked its way to gold status as the group's second single, "Come Seem Me," reached number 15 on the R&B charts. Room 112 followed in 1998 and Part III was issued three years later. 112 all but left Bad Boy for 2003's Hot & Wet, and the group cemented its new relationship with Def Soul on 2005's Pleasure & Pain. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Biography
Since the publication of The Wizard of Oz in September of 1900, citizens throughout the world have come to realize that fantasies can come from the tiniest, nondescript places, and that the most wondrous journeys can begin in your own backyard— especially if your home is located in Greater Kansas City, Kansas. Like Dorothy, the aspiring songstress, producer and actress Janelle Monáe is a native of Kansas. And like Dorothy and other famous fairy tale heroines, Janelle has a big, bright smile and grand ambitions that involve leaps of imagination and different ways of seeing the world.
This imaginative sensibility started early at the age of nine when Janelle Monáe decided that the world should be a different color: "preferably purple." Thinking back on it now, Janelle says, "I was different. Of course, I did the normal, little-diva-in-training things like running up phone bills by dialing 1-800-Be-A-Star and singing Anita Baker's 'Sweet Love' for anyone that would listen...but I was also on some different stuff...there was a lot of confusion and nonsense where I grew up so I reacted by creating my own little world...I began to see how music could change lives, and I began to dream about a world where every day was like anime and Broadway, where music fell from the sky and anything could happen..."
In pursuit of this world, Janelle moved to New York after high school so that she could attend The American Musical and Dramatics Academy, a musical theatre conservatory program. In this program, she fell in love with the soaring melodies and harmonic possibilities of classical music, as well as labored endlessly onstage and off to perfect her vocal instrument. Deciding to change the world beyond Broadway, she soon headed to Atlanta, the home of progressive soul and hip hop music to start her music career. "Musically, I was ready to do something big, wild and adventurous. And I knew if Atlanta was big enough for the vision of Outkast, it'd be big enough for me."
Within eight months of arriving in Atlanta, Janelle had met Nate "Rocket" Wonder and Chuck Lightning of Wondaland Productions and begun work on her masterful debut album Metropolis. "Metropolis is the place I've been dreaming about all these years. A city inside your head. It's an adventure the music brings to life." Like a daring epic film, the album concerns a cybergirl's struggle to love in the futuristic city of Metropolis. With such innovative subject matter, it is no surprise that Metropolis doesn't sound like your average R & B record. In fact, many of the songs sound simply otherworldly: "Violet Stars Happy Hunting" sounds like a frantic Disney song played by the Sex Pistols; the achingly beautiful, string-laden "Cindi" sounds like a moving Broadway classic crafted by Rogers and Hammerstein; "Many Moons" sounds like an outtake from a haunted opera, complete with doo-wop sass, Hendrixian guitar, booming drums and stabs of spooky organ; while "Metropolis" is a soulful blue waltz through a Bladerunner-like world where cyborgs fall in love with humans at their own peril.
Outside of these mind-blowing musical achievements, Janelle has stayed busy: collaborating with Big Boi of Outkast on the celebrated song "Call the Law" on the Outkast album Idlewild, gracing the cover of Creative Loafing and finding new fans through feature stories in Vibe Magazine, Interview Magazine, Blag and Atlanta Peach; planning an innovative release of Metropolis that will bring its futuristic sounds to the public through four collectible mini-albums or suites; and teaming with her producers and colleagues at Wondaland Productions to found her own record company known as the Wondaland Arts Society. The first suite of Metropolis (known as The Chase) was released on August 24, 2007, and it quickly became an underground sensation, landing on many best-of-the-year lists and selling 10,000 copies, while also garnering the attention of major artists and producers such as Sean "Diddy" Combs, Dallas Austin, Cee-lo and Pete Wentz (of Fall Out Boy). However, even with all this success, Janelle is surprisingly grounded and clear-eyed about the future: "I feel so blessed. I have so many people I look up too: Bjork, Outkast, Colonel Sanders, Mick Jagger, James Brown, Madonna...I want to take the things they've taught me to the stars...."

Full Biography The third group to be put together through the reality television series Making the Band -- O-Town being the first, Da Band being the second -- Danity Kane's membership includes five women who beat out hundreds of hopefuls. Chosen by music mogul and Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy, members Aubrey, Aundrea, D. Woods, Dawn, and Shannon sang, danced, and watched their competition stumble over two seasons of the series. By the end of the second season, Diddy decided this was the quintet who fit his dream of creating the next En Vogue or Destiny's Child. A third season chronicled the recording of the band's first album and the process of naming the group. During a June 2006 appearance on MTV's TRL, it was announced the group would be called Danity Kane, a reference to a superhero Dawn had created and sketched in the studio during downtime. The TRL appearance also announced the group's debut single was the club cut "Show Stopper" featuring fellow Bad Boy artist Yung Joc. With tracks from big-name producers Scott Storch and Timbaland, their self-titled debut hit the streets in August of 2006. After spending 2007 on a package tour with Christina Aguilera and the Pussycat Dolls, their second album, Welcome to the Dollhouse, landed in 2008. ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide

R&B singer Cassie got her first taste of the music industry at 16 when she had the opportunity to speak with the producer Rockwilder, a meeting that inspired her to take formal voice lessons. This decision paid off nicely later on, when, after she'd graduated from high school and was working on her modeling career in New York, she became acquainted with producer Ryan Leslie. He encouraged her to pursue music more seriously, and in January 2005, Cassie's mother's request for a song provided the impetus to go into the studio with Leslie and record one. Tommy Mottola heard Cassie's work and signed her to a management deal, and with Leslie as her producer, the young singer joined P. Diddy's Bad Boy Entertainment in 2006. That same year, her self-titled debut album was released; "Me&U," its lead single, reached the Top Ten. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide

Alonzo Mathis, better known by his stage name Gorilla Zoe, is an American hip hop artist from Atlanta, Georgia. A member of the Bad Boy Records group Boyz n da Hood, in which he replaced Young Jeezy, Mathis first saw success backing up Young Joc on songs including Coffee Shop and Bottle Poppin', which charted under several Billboard categories. His first solo album, Welcome to the Zoo, was released in October of 2007, which peaked at #18 on the Billboard Top 200, #3 on Top Rap Albums, and #8 on Top R&B Albums.
Gorilla Zoe is an Atlanta rapper in the mold of Young Jeezy, whom he replaced in the Bad Boy group Boyz N da Hood. Both Atlantans have raspy voices, slow flows, simple rhymes, and a shameless obsession with the illegal drug trade, in particular cocaine. Gorilla Zoe's first taste of commercial success came with "Coffee Shop," a 2007 hit by Bad Boy labelmate Yung Joc. Gorilla Zoe's debut single as a solo artist, "Hood Nigga," followed shortly thereafter, along with his debut album, Welcome to the Zoo.
His first album as Jeezy's replacement in Boyz N da Hood, Back Up N da Chevy, was released next, also in 2007. The album spawned a series of singles, including "Everybody Know Me" and "We Ready." ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
