Started playing the keys at 9, started playing in bands since 14, started arranging own music at: 15 Through the years I played the keys in several bands for shorter and longer periods at many parties/events.
Around 2000 I joined Poor Man Friend, one of the up and coming reggaebands in Holland. (www.poormanfriend.com) I composed some songs on their debut-album also. One song of that album was ever used in a scene in the Dutch soap-serie 'Goede tijden, slechte tijden' (haha funny to hear your own music in the background). I had very nice performances with Poor Man Friend in clubs and at festivals in and outside of Holland. With this band they played with some great (almost legendary) reggae-artists on stage, such as: Lucky Dube, Bushman, Pato Banton and Poor Man Friend also was support-act for Yellowman at German tour. Since 2003 I got more busy with my own music stuff and with many respect me and Poor Man Friend finished their corporation. I am still busy with composition, and will never forget the love for reggae-music...............
Later on I worked together with Djaga to complete the production of the CD Blueprint, a CD full of young Indonesian (-related) vocal talents, music produced by CJ & Djaga. This was an assignemnt for the 'Gemeente Den Haag' .Some songs of these CD were used in live-performance, played by an orchestra of 60 (!) people, i.e. the Dutch Marine Corps. Nice to hear your home-made composition getting alive in an orchestra ! This performance was also broadcasted by Dutch TV-station called TROS. -
Made also some songs for UC, an Indonesian/Javanese female singer, touching different styles. Funny that one of the songs by voting became the highest newcomer in the charts of a regional radio-station (Fun X) :-)
I am also hired by bands when they need some free-lance substitute keys-player for their performance.
Well, when I make my own songs I like to be inspired by soul/pop-ballads/Indonesian/re ggae/lounge/jazz/dance
Right now still compose music, play in live hiphop band with Mic Nif (rap artist) and also in an Indonesian/Javanese band called Jamu.
What more can I say, I am living with a Javanese heart and a universal soul....and using my keys to open doors......
