"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.", Benjamin Franklin
"The alleged purpose of the bill was to make clear that the government does not have to get a warrant for foreign-to-foreign communications that happen to pass through the U.S. But the new bill goes far beyond this narrow fix. It allows the government to listen in on international communications to and from law-abiding Americans in the U.S. who have no connections to terrorism. The checks on this international dragnet authority are virtually non-existent. ..."

"The NATO bombing of Albanian refugees near Djakovica (Giakove) occurred on April 14, 1999
"The NATO bombing of Albanian refugees near Djakovica (Giakove) occurred on April 14, 1999 when NATO planes repeatedly bombed refugee movements over a twelve-mile stretch of road between Djakovica and Decani in western Kosovo, killing 73 civilians. Human Rights Watch found no basis to support the claims by NATO that the convoys themselves were composed of military vehicles.
The attack began at 1:30 p.m. and persisted for about two hours, causing civilian deaths in numerous locations on the convoy route near the villages of Bistrazin, Gradis, Madanaj, and Meja. ..."

MSNBC Interview with Bajram Gecaj --- Somebody asked me today: Do you judge this interview objective ? Sorry...but I don't see the goal of this video.
My response: Do I think that the interview with Mr. Gecaj was objective ? - Far from that. It actually shows to those that truly understand the situation that various spokesman for the Albanian side are being fed "the right" words to say, for the purpose of winning the Wests support. Notice that Mr. Gecaj spent no time actually talking about the terrible tragedy that happened near Djakovica, and the MSNBC reporter asked no questions other than the introductory remarks about the convoy.
This is not to say that Albanian civilians did not suffer greatly, because they did. However, I am convinced that greatest part of their suffering is due to NATO bombing. The news reports from that period show that only trickle of refuges were leaving Kosovo before the bombing, and after the bombing started, in a very short period of time, hundreds of thousands stampeded out, mostly to Albania, but also to Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
Attempts to blame Serbian side for all wrongdoing in Kosovo are succeeding, partially because of the Wests guilt about Bosnian and Croatian wars. They stood there and watched the tragedy unfold and did close to nothing. They allowed the slaughter of Muslims in Bosnia, and slaughter of Serbs in Krajina. They allowed the slaughter of Croats too.

Otpor was formed on October 10, 1998 in response to repressive university and media laws introduced earlier that year. In the beginning, Otpor's activities were limited to University of Belgrade. In the aftermath of the NATO airstrikes against FR Yugoslavia in 1999 regarding the Kosovo War, Otpor began a political campaign against the Yugoslav president Slobodan Milošević. This resulted in nationwide police repression against Otpor activists, during which nearly 2000 were arrested, some beaten. During the presidential campaign of September 2000, Otpor launched its "Gotov je" (He's finished) campaign which would galvanize national discontent with Milošević and eventually result in his defeat. Some students who led Otpor used Serbian translations of Gene Sharp's writings on nonviolent action as a theoretical basis for their campaign. Otpor became one of the defining symbols of anti-Milošević struggle and his subsequent overthrow. By aiming their activities at the pool of youth abstinents and other disillusioned voters, Otpor contributed to one of the biggest turnouts ever for the September 24, 2000 federal presidential elections. Having succeeded in persuading a large number of the traditional electorate to abandon Milošević was another one of the areas where the smear-proof Otpor played a key role. Milošević had in the past succeeded in persuading the public that his opponents were spies and traitors, but on this occasion, it backfired, as the beatings and imprisonments during the summer of 2000 further cemented the decision to vote against the regime in many voters' minds.

In spite of all speculations and many misleading statements, the refugees were not used as a human shield by Serbian forces during May 14th, 1999 Refugee convoy bombing. Proof comes from NATO itself. During their Press Conference for May 14th, 1999 NATO did not report any Yugoslav forces activity in the area of Korisa or Prizren.
