	A lot of folks are asking (some sincerely) how do we know a coin belongs to a particular period. Mostly from the inscription on the coin. Roman coins are quite easy to date. For example a denarius of Nero with COS I (the title of his first consulship) pinpoints the coin to a date of 55AD. Jims coin was issued under Alexander Jannaeus, a Judean 'client' king supported by the Seleucid empire, which ruled Judea before the Romans arrived. (2 days ago)
