Welcome to my YouTube page! My career dates back 20 plus years to 1980, from one of Seattle's true & first Lowriders, from being the West Coast's 1st DJ to host & DJ an ALL Rap radio show on commercial radio (1250 KFOX-Seattle) to my years with Sir Mix-A-Lot (NastyMix Records), my acting career & more!

So if you like Flashing Back To The Old School, then lay back, relax & chill as we go back in time!
Name: Nasty-Nes
At the early age of ten, Nasty Nes came to the Northwest from the Philippines. His sister began to continue education at New York University and Nes would spend much of his time there during the summer season. Immersed in the birthplace of Hip Hop culture, he was influenced by many of the Hip Hop legends such as Grandmaster Flash, Mr. Magic and other pioneering deejays.

Motivated, Nasty Nes would return to Seattle and eventually host the first Hip-Hop radio show in the West Coast. This show was named "Freshtracks" on 1250 KFOX. Shortly after, Nes was granted the right to extend his well-received program to weeknights; which became "NightBeat". 1985 brought about the creation of his label Nes co-founded, called NASTYMIX Records with Ed Locke.

While checking out a local Hip Hop show at the Boy's Club located in the Central District, Nasty Nes would meet an emerging artist named Sir Mix-A-Lot. There relationship flourished and Mix-A-Lot would become the first artist on the label's roster. They released Mix's "Square Dance Rap" which sold around 75,000 copies. Then in 1988, "Posse's on Broadway" which became a Seattle anthem establishing the first national appearance of a Seattle Hip Hop artist. It then reached its pinnacle in 1993 when Mix-A-Lot received a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance for "Baby Got Back". Nes was also responsible for opening doors for several other artists and has always been supportive of the local scene.

Nes is also featured on the now classic single, "Radio" by the late & legendary Eazy-E! Nes is also one of the youngest students to study at the original Bruce Lee "Jun Fan Gung-Fu Institute"school in Seattle under the guidance of Taky Kimura at the age of 13 years old.

After his Hip Hop radio show "Freshtacks" came "Rap Attack" along with Shockmaster Glenn Boyd in 1988 on college station KCMU. Other hosts/deejays to contribute to Seattle's longest running Hip Hop show are Mike C, Kutfather, B-Mello, DV-One and Mr. Supreme. Rap Attack was instrumental in supporting and exposing local talent over the airwaves for the first time. Nasty Nes had paved the foundation for Hip Hop on radio now today there are several Hip Hop programs within this region including Street Sounds, Sunday Night Sound Sessions, Zulu Radio, Tha Download and others. Nes also debuted "Saturday Night Hot Mix" on Seattle's TOP 40 station, KUBE 93 in 1994. After an astonishing 17 years of radio, Nes moved to Southern California in 1997 where he would continue this momentum.

He became the Rap Editor for HITS Magazine, the music industry's largest weekly trade publication. Following that he began his own online national radio promotions buisness called "RapAttackLives.com". He started a successful street promotion company called Crazy Pinoy Promotions in 1992. He has even followed his apirations as an actor and has been featured in films such as "House Party 4", "Kung Pow! Enter The Fist" and "Purgatory House."

Nasty Nes has not only influenced a whole generation with his work and service to the community as a pioneer, but continues to exemplify the principles in which Hip Hop stands for; Peace, Love and Hip Hop Unity. Anyone that knows him personally or has met him in breif would be able to speak on his character as a genuine, respectful, loving and compassionate brother. He has shown us that Hip Hop is a universal culture that transcends all barriers of humanity and that Asians and Asian-Americans can be apart of this culture that was created by the Black and Brown.

Nes like others, it brought back memories watching the ole clips from you and homie Shockmaster. As you know, I started my program, Music Inner City in December of 1990 and we are still on the air. I contacted you about starting MIC-TV with videos from NastyMix Records and as they say, the rest is history. The Seattle hip-hop/rap scene has not been the same since you left as far as promo tours etc. So I have to do a lot of phone interviews. Anyway thanks to you and Shockmaster and of course Mix for putting Seatown on the hip-hop/rap map. Music Inner City is a result of what you put down! Gordon Curvey

Wow! Those Rap Attack videos brought back some memories Nes, thanx for posting them. If nothing else, they prove that at onepoint in my life, I was actually kinda cool. Not as cool as you of course. That would be against the laws of nature, right? But pretty cool nonetheless. Thanx for posting them Poi Boy.

This thing apparently doesn't want to post the URL of my blog, but you can find it easily by doing a Google search for Glen Boyd. You can catch up with the Shockmaster today there, and of course relive a few hip hop memories too.

Thanx for posting the videos Nes.

And See me....

Shockmaster Glen Boyd
