Old Time Music Hall Fan.

I have posted some of the original 78 rpm & cylinder recordings of Music Hall artiste's, Films etc. from my collection. I have removed the surface noise to give the best sound from these records now in the public domain.

As a partially sighted registered blind user of a computer. I use an advanced screen reader, and text-to-speech technology. My posts are created using a speech to text program.

I restore the sound, and friends help with the visual side of my video's.

I hope these old recordings give as much enjoyment to others, as they have to me.

Florrie Forde was perhaps one of the graetest of all the female music hall artiste's. Re[Absolutely perfect diction This was true of all of the old Music Hall artistes. I think because there was no electrical amplification in theatres in the early 20th century and performers had to rely on their natural ability rather than artificial voice enhancements. Certainly good diction was considered vital in the early talkies
Yes. although this song has been recorded by many different artistes since it was first written in the 1890's It is good to be able to hear the first version made so popular and recorded by "Vesta Victoria" over a 100 years ago. It is one of my treasured recordings as this belonged to my Grandfather who was born in 1876
Re[Did you know that your "archive footage" is actually Gus Elen singing "It's a Great big Shame" ] I believe the original film you speak of is from the Pathetone film made in the early 1930's although this is not source of film used for the visuals used as a backing for this 78 record
Thanks for posting this clip. it is only through u-tube that we can see any of Jessie Matthews work
Very true ! I think the nice thing about this recording is that it was made for the domestic market, and Sir Harry uses quite a broad Scottish accent
