Hmm.. well i didnt download mine. all you have to do is go to control panel and click language regional options ( something like that) and look for language tool bar. i dont exactly remember how it is on a american computer. i could check on my computer but im staying in osaka.
if you get japanese on the language bar, on the bar there will be a picture of a keyboard. click on it then you will see a a red circle. click on it. then just type and press space and kanji will pop up
