This is an excellent example of persuasive public speaking in a real-world context and of a speaker using a computer-based slideshow to aid a speech.
The footage is a short excerpt from Steve Jobs' Apple WWDC 2005 Keynote in which he is making the case to Apple developers--who had been anti-Intel for years--that the upcoming switch from PowerPC to Intel is a good idea.
Speaker's use of the slideshow: It's a zen thing--Jobs is one with his presentation. He largely ignores it, focusing on the audience rather than looking at the screen.
Slideshow design: The slideshow itself is extremely minimalistic, guiding the audience through the basic ideas of the speech and occasionally showing things that are more easily understood visually than verbally. He uses the slideshow for three things: traffic direction, examples, and building up complex ideas. All visual and textual elements are meaningful--nothing is there 'just because'. Even slide transitions are meaningful. Complex elements such as graphs are built up part by part so that the audience is guided through them. Visual jokes are included, but even the jokes are integral to the meaning of the presentation.
Copyright note: I consider uploading this short excerpt from the WWDC 2005 keynote to be fair use for the purpose of study and comment.

Oshiya, or "pusher", is an informal Japanese term for a worker who stands on the platform of a railway station during the morning and evening rush hours, and pushes people onto the train.
This video is taken in 1991 on the Seibu-Ikebukuro Line in Tokyo in the morning rush.

My CD: http://www.ronaldjenkees.com/music-store
These are really two songs in 1 but they evolved in the same FL Studio project (2 different days). That's how it goes sometimes - might have to make it into two different beats since they're so different.
They keyboard I'm using here is the Yamaha Motif XS8, which is the weighted-key version of the XS series (I'm finding I'm not a fan of weighted keys for most stuff besides piano). More on that in another video where I'll play some stuff I'm sequencing purely on the board (very different and confusing to me).
Thanks for watching/commenting/subscribing, folks!

**This track will be on my next CD - late summer of 2008
it cut me off when I said hello youtubes! not sure why it did that.
THIS IS FUN!!!!! I don't have much done on this beat, but like usual, I thought I would upload the beginnings of it. It's been one of my favorite beats to work on so far. It'll be on my next CD for sure.
I'm super-thankful for all the comments, subscriptions, and for those that check out my CD.
FYI: I made the beat using FL Studio (software) and the Yamaha Motif XS8. The patch I'm using is called "Buzz Around". Again, I like this new keyboard, but I discovered I'm not a fan of weighted keys (except for piano stuff). I might trade down to the XS7 eventually.

my music store: http://www.ronaldjenkees.com/music-store
**this tune will be on my next CD - I came up with this jam recently so I don't have it available yet. thanks for all the emails and interest in it! can't wait til it's done (hopefully late summer of 2008 - no hard date yet).
just havin some fun with a guitar sound on the Motif XS8. The patch I'm playing with is called Hard Ramp AS1&2. I made the background beat using FL Studio.
PS. I've read some reviews of this vid as if I'm trying to be a "keytar" player (apparently not a desirable thing, but how can you not like Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein") and that I should just play a real guitar. LOL @ some of those same people who probably play guitar hero (nothing against it but hopefully you see my point)! The irony! The point is, folks, if you find a fun/inspiring sound to jam with, by all means, you should JAM WITH IT! I don't care if you find a $3.00 plastic trumpet. Don't worry about the technicalities and what people say. In the long run it's about the fun that YOU have making music.
Thanks for watching!!!
