If you've been watching videos on YouTube and are ready to take the next step, we've got a lot of directions you can choose! Whether you want to search for the best videos, share them with your friends, or broadcast your own work to the world, you'll find plenty of ways to play with video here. Click any item below to get started.
To add videos to your QuickList, click on the "+" on a video you want to add (you can do this from most video pages). The list will be saved on this computer, so you can watch it later.
Once your list is created, you can see the QuickList bar under any video you watch. Click the down arrow to display the full bar.
If you want to watch your entire QuickList at once, click "Play All" and it will play everything until it reaches the end or you stop a video. You can set QuickList to remove videos as you watch them by clicking the checkbox at the bottom of the bar, or you can manually remove them by clicking the trash can icon next to each video.
If you want to save the list to share or to make it permanent, click "Save," and you will be able to save your QuickList as a regular Playlist.
Dashing off a quick vlog or video response is now even easier; you can record directly to YouTube through your webcam. Here's how.
Once the video is processed, it will appear in the video list on your profile and on your "My Videos" page. From there, you can edit the information just like any other video you've uploaded.
There are two ways to join a stream: follow the link from an email or IM, pick a stream from the listing, or go through TestTube. If you're not already logged in to YouTube, you'll need to log in on the way there.
When you join, you'll see a welcome message from the Stream owner, and you will appear in the chat as a new member of the room. You can only be in one Stream at a time, so be sure to quit the one you're in before going off to another one.
A Stream has two basic areas: the top and left side are all about the videos, and the right side is all about chatting with other users.
Along the top you can see thumbnails and partial titles for all of the videos currently in the room; clicking on one will move it to player so you can watch. Hovering over the thumbnail gives you the option of flagging a video if you feel it's inappropriate; it will be sent to our review team, and once it hits a limit set by the stream owner, the video will be removed from the room.
In the bottom left of the screen, you can load videos from your Recently Watched or QuickList. The first video on the list will automatically load into the player, and will be shared with the rest of the room when you start to watch.
Clicking the first button on a video in the list will preload it, and clicking the second button will share it with the room and open it in the player. Clicking the third button will delete it from the list.
You can also add a video by pasting the full URL from the main YouTube site into the Video URL box at the bottom and clicking the "Add Video by URL" button.
On the right side of the screen, you can see a list of all the YouTube users in the room, the ongoing chat, and an open text box where you can type your comments. This works just like most chat and IM programs, so just type in the box and hit "Enter" to see your comment appear. It will appear in the conversation with your currently watched video as the icon (unless you uncheck the "Include current video" checkbox).
If another user in the room is being obnoxious or inappropriate, you can flag them to the owner of the room by hovering over their username and clicking "Inappropriate"." Only the owner of the room can actually kick out our ban users from the room, however.
Underneath the chat box, there's a Share URL you can copy and send to your friends via email, SMS, or IM.
You can create your own stream from the TestTube page, or just go directly. The only required field is the title, and the rest are self-explanatory. Once you click "Save Stream Info," your room will be created and you'll enter it as the first member.
To change any of the information about your Stream, click "Admin Stream." Once you get to the form, you can change any of the fields, click "Save Stream Info," and the changes will take effect.
As the owner of the stream, you have the power to kick users out of the stream temporarily, or ban them permanently. You can also give other users Administrator rights to help you manage the room. Click "Admin Stream" to see a list of all the users in the room, and set their Status or choose Actions to take.
In addition to managing the users, you also have control over the videos in the room. Videos that have hit your flagging limit will automatically disappear, but you can also manually remove videos by clicking "Admin Videos" and selecting the ones you want to remove.
