This is a promotional video for the upcoming gallery exhibit by Los Angeles Contemporary artist Treiops Treyfid at the MJ Higgins Gallery opening on Earth Day 2008. MJ Higgins gallery is located in downtown Los Angeles on 400 s. Main st. 213-617-1700 (ph). The opening is from 6pm to 9pm Tuesday April 22nd 2008 (Earth Day). This video displays several of the pieces that will be in the show. Music by Brain Garden (www.klownhead.com)
The title of the show is ANIMALS OF THE FUTURE. All wild and exotic animals on our planet are under threat of extinction because of the loss of habitat due to pollution, the warming of the earth's environment, and human population growth. Fragile ecosystems are in serious peril all over the world and will pay a heavy price from the increased storms, floods, and coastal erosion that global warming will produce. What are the critters that will survive the coming catastrophe? They will be the ones that are able to live with or near humans, can live in an urban or semi-urban environment, and will use human garbage as food. These are the "Animals of the Future". They include raccoon, opossum, rats, roaches, crows, owl, coyotes, squirrels, sparrows, pigeons, deer, seagulls, lizards, rabbits, skunk, chipmunks, mice, feral cats, stray dogs, and many other species. The pieces in this show will highlight and tribute these overlooked noble survivors that live sometimes literally in our own backyards.

jFERRARI Gallery is an contemporary artist run gallery located in Northeast Los Angeles. It focuses on supporting emerging and mid-career fine artists. The gallery is active with monthly exhibitions. On January 12th was the opening of "Figure It Out". A group exhibit of painters and photographers work that portrayed the human form realistically, and symbolically.
I had two pieces in the show. One is called Red Chi, the other Blue Chi. These are artworks in the form of relief sculpture created through a complicated process using exotic materials such as holographic foil and polyester resin. Holographic foil is a material which seems to have energy bursting from it.

Here is a fun little vignette promoting the music section on my www.treiops.com site. Treyfid's Soundformation Highway is what I call the page where I keep all my FREE downloadable music. Yes, that's right there are dozens of FREE songs available for download in this section. There are songs from my various musical endeavors including my solo work (Treiops Treyfid), Macitajs on Acid (A Latvian Love Punk band), The Economic (a band I was in with Joe Halladay and Amy Domingues), pitchblende (a Washington DC based art punk progressive band I was in), Technostress (a band I'm in with Aimee Soubier and Karl Hill from DC. We recently did a Japanese tour), and Triptic of a Pastel Fern (my audio experimental project). The direct URL to this section is http://www.treiops.com/sfh.html So, definitely go there and download all my free music. I am Los Angeles based. I would describe my solo work as progressive visionary new wave incorporating electronics and live instruments.

I was a resident artist at The Hive Gallery and Studios from April of 2005 to May of 2007 in downtown Los Angeles. I was among the first to move into the Hive Gallery and was a participant and witness to it's rise of status as one of downtown's favorite art destinations. I have since moved to a larger work space closeby in downtown at the Crescent Creamery building. But, I still come by often to hang out with Nathan Cartwright and the current resident artists. The Hive features art of many different styles including contemporary art, lowbrow, visionary art, outsider art, multi-media, performance art, sculpture, painting, video work, contemporary assemblage, etc.
The footage from this video was shot at The Hive in December 2006 during one of it's Saturday openings and features many of my paintings and relief sculptures. The Hive Gallery has an opening the 1st Saturday of every month which is usually a group show of Los Angeles based artists. During the openings the Hive resident artists have their spaces open for the viewing public. The second Thursday of every month is the Downtown Art Walk in which The Hive Gallery participates. The gallery show and artist spaces will be open for the public at that time as well.
