It was 1992. Six or seven boys aged between 8 and 15 queued at a red arcade machine. A ten year old at the front continuously felled his opponents by knowing just one move; Sub Zero's freeze. I also was familiar one or two moves; Scorpion's harpoon and fatality. I had never played before though, so could not launch my spear and three times in a row Sub Zero finished me with an uppercut. My fourth attempt came, a close battle which i took by excessive tripping and finally i saw a "Finish Him" not directed at me. I held my breath and pressed Block, Up, Up and watch as Scorpion unveiled his true face. I, and everyone around me, stared at the screen in awe, as, not only had Sub Zero finally been defeated, he had been killed, burnt alive. Horrific and thrilling it was for an 8 year old at the time, and it was my first introduction to Mortal Kombat.
Though that fatality has made an impact on my gaming life i did not include it in my "Top 5 fatality" list. Unfortunately it looks quite dated now compared to the 3D ones but i still have a place for it in my twisted heart.
