Name: Paiute
Age: 31
I am a Paiute person whose ancestors came from several bands of Paiutes through out California and Nevada. We call ourselves the Numa. My ancestry is from Yosemite, Hetch Hetchy, Mono Lake, Bridgeport, and Walker River.

The Paiute videos are dedicated to the original Native Americans of Yosemite who were Paiutes. Yosemite National Park is trying to change or erase the history of the Paiute people in Yosemite and Hetch Hetchy.

sceptrifer, thank you for asking. The song that the Dance Theatre is singing is definitely not Paiute.

I believe that the song they are singing is a Northern Plains tribal song. I am not sure, but that would be my guess.

I posted a video of Southeastern older tribal singing. That might be of interest to you since you mentioned you are part Cherokee.

Peace to our brothers overseas.

Hello Ahwahneechee,

Could you tell me if this song "Native American Indian Dance Theatre - Hand drum song" is from the Paiutes or another tribe, and which tribe?

I'd love to know, because I have in my possesion a cassette tape with that song and other handdrum and flute songs.

I'd like to know to which ribe it belongs.

I myself am 1/16 Native American, with Cherokee and Commanche heritage, the rest being Black Dutch (native-whitemen) and real Dutch (Holland).

peace,
Rein.

Anaris10,

The Paiute ARE Aztec, as well as the Comanche, Ute, Goshiute, Hopi, and hundreds of other Indigenous groups. Aztec stronghold sounds right to me.

Where was the pow-wow at which you filmed Claudia? My cousin jingle dances, and it's amazing to watch. I just get lost in the sound of the drums and jingles, and focus on the feet.

Anaris10, isn't your family part Mexican?

Which means you are part Aztec...no?

Paiutes are Uto-Aztecan, and part of the Numic branch.
