On Saturday March 29, Autism Speaks teamed up with WPTV in West Palm Beach and WTVJ in Miami for the first annual "Autism Speaks Telethon and Auction in South Florida" raising over $371,511 The evening began with the broadcast of the acclaimed documentary "Autism Every Day" and was followed by a live two-hour telethon originating from WPTV studios and simulcast in the Miami market on WTVJ. Hosted by anchor teams from both stations, the telethon, sponsored by AT&T and Chevrolet, raised funds to support Autism Speaks science programs, as well as education and awareness activities across South Florida and around the globe.

The Concert for Autism Speaks featuring Lionel Richie, held at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida on March 30, 2008, raised $1.8 million to benefit Autism Speaks. The beautiful interior of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club served as the backdrop for the exciting fundraising concert headlined by Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, Lionel Richie.
The sold-out event was hosted by renowned journalist and author Tom Brokaw who introduced speakers Donald Trump, an event co-chair along with wife Melania, followed by Florida Governor Charlie Crist, and Suzanne and Bob Wright, the co-founders of Autism Speaks. The audience was on their feet for much of the concert that featured Richie's most beloved and acclaimed hits, both as a solo performer and as a member of the Commodores.

Fifty surfers took to the waters around Manhattan on the morning of Monday, August 13, 2007, for Sea Paddle NYC, a fundraiser for autism awareness. Spearheaded by Andrew Mencinsky, executive director of the Surfers' Environmental Alliance, or SEA, weekend surf riders and pros alike embarked on a twenty eight mile journey from New York's South Street Seaport and arrived at the North Cove Marina in a little under six hours. This year's SEA Paddle was the first ever surf paddle around the island of Manhattan and featured participants on traditional lay down surf boards as well as on stand up paddle boards. All money raised by this event will go to fund autism awareness and organizations that support autism awareness, including Autism Speaks.
