So you think you can own me, well you'd better just think again You'd better watch your steps now, woman, cause I ain't like those other men There's something burning inside me that makes me want to be free And when I get these feelings honey, you better keep away from me
There's things in life now, baby, that I know I've got to do And I need your love now, baby, to help me see it through So you think you can own me, well you'd better just think again You'd better watch your steps now, woman, cause I ain't like those other men

Hit the lights Hit the lights Hit the lights
You know our fans are insane We are gonna blow this place away with volume higher Than anything today the only way When we start to rock We never want to stop again
Hit the lights Hit the lights Hit the lights
With all our screaming We are gonna rip right through your brain We got the lethal power It is causing you sweet pain Oh sweet pain When we start to rock We never want to stop again

Welcome, I invite you off to the other world
You'll have to face this house of no escape
Welcome, I invite you off to the other world You'll have to face this house of no escape Confront the past, in this psychic house of horrors I lead you up the path you'll take
Panic, your conscience lied Trapped inside Panic, your ultimate nightmare Welcome to the fun palace
Panic, just try to scream It's only a dream Panic, your ultimate nightmare Welcome to the palace
Tonight you'll be tried, I invoke the memories The guilt to be driven from this unconscious mind Young lives that you've denied, behold their faces Innocence cut to pieces just look around
Look at the fun and games that you've taken away Confess! Dreams of growing up have been destroyed Because of you!
Farewell, I impel you back to your other world You'll have to face your every sin Take this a painful bounty, representing me The keeper of the palace and the secrets held within
Goodbye, from the fun palace

When it was released, Master of Puppets provided many metal fans with an alternate image to the commercially popular glam metal bands such as Poison, and Quiet Riot. The album sold over half a million copies at its time of release without any major video/radio airplay, making it the band's first record to be certified Gold by the RIAA. The album has also frequently been tagged by critics as "one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time".
The band's line-up during the album's recording was James Hetfield (vocals, guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums), Kirk Hammett (lead guitar), and Cliff Burton (bass). The album is remembered in part due to the death of Burton shortly after the release of the album in a bus accident while supporting the album on tour.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of its release, Metallica played the album in its entirety on their Escape from the Studio '06 tour, for the first time ever at the Rock am Ring festival on June 3, 2006. These concerts included the first-ever complete performances of the instrumental "Orion" (though the song's lengthy middle section had been performed at various times as part of instrumental medleys and bass solos since the early 1980s).
The title track was ranked Number 51 in the "The Greatest Guitar Solos" from Guitar World. In 2006, the album was voted the fourth "greatest guitar album of all time" in Guitar World. And the April 5, edition of Kerrang! was dedicated to it, providing readers with the cover album "Master of Puppets: Remastered". In March 2007, the guitar magazine Total Guitar ranked the 100 greatest riffs of all time. The main riff in "Master of Puppets" was ranked as number one.

The album sold over half a million copies at its time of release without any major video/radio airplay, making it the band's first record to be certified Gold by the RIAA. The album is often credited for innovating thrash metal, specially for the fact it included some rhythms which were written in a more progressive-like mode, and it also added acoustic features along with an ambient similar to power metal in at least some parts of the songs, all of these not credited to the thrash scene, thus being innovative. The album was influential to the later started post-thrash scene, mainly stylistically. The album has also frequently being tagged by critics as "one of the most influential heavy metal albums of all time".

Dealing out the agony within charging hard and no one's gonna give in Living on your knees, conformity or dying on your feet for honesty Inbred, our bodies work as one bloody, but never cry submission Following our instinct not a trend go against the grain until the end
Blood will follow blood Dying time is here Damage Incorporated
Slamming through, don't with razorback stepping out? You'll feel our hell on your back Blood follows blood and we make sure life ain't for you and we're the cure Honesty is my only excuse Try to rob us of it, but it's no use Steamroller action crushing all Victim is your name and you shall fall
Blood will follow blood Dying time is here Damage Incorporated
We chew and spit you out we laugh, you scream and shout All flee, with fear you run You'll know just where we come from
Damage Incorporated
Damage jackals ripping right through you sight and smell of this, it gets me goin' Know just how to get just what we want tear it from your soul in nightly hunt fuck it all and fuckin´ no regrets Never happy ending on these dark sets All's fair for Damage Inc. you see step a little closer if you please
Blood will follow blood Dying time is here Damage Incorporated

Make his fight on the hill in the early day Constant chill deep inside Shouting gun, on they run through the endless gray On they fight, for they are right, yes, but who's to say? For a hill, men would kill. Why? They do not know Suffered wounds test their pride Men of five, still alive through the raging glow Gone insane from the pain that they surely know
For whom the bell tolls Time marches on For whom the bell tolls
Take a look to the sky just before you die It's the last time he will Blackened roar, massive roar, fills the crumbling sky Shattered goal fills his soul with a ruthless cry Stranger now are his eyes to this mystery He hears the silence so loud Crack of dawn, all is gone except the will to be Now they see what will be, blinded eyes to see
For whom the bell tolls Time marches on For whom the bell tolls
