Oh, yeah, I should add -- with a notarized complaint, you are no longer "JimmyJustice", but who you really are. This gets serious at this point, and ventures into the world of legal crap. I wouldn't advise notarizing it unless you understand the true meaning of swearing under oath.

It helps to have a friend who is a notary public, for when you are filing police complaints. A notarized document becomes public record, and simply "destroying" the document won't just make it go away, legally.
I had an issue today when I made a citizen's detention of a cop, and I really, really peeved off a lot of cops (in NC, we can't make citizen's arrests). Unfortunately, the cop who responded to the scene overstepped the law. I filed a formal police complaint, and I got it notarized (I didn't have to, but I did).

I am a notary, myself, but I can't notarize my own documents. I got the document notarized at the bank.
