Born and raised in New Orleans' third ward Calliope Housing Projects, Master P always envisioned a better life for himself and his family. Raised by his grandparents, P eventually moved to Richmond, California with his mother in 1990. It was there that he applied a $10,000 check from a legal settlement toward the opening his own record store called No Limit Records, which evolved into his now-famous recording label.
Now a veteran of the entertainment industry, Master P has proven that old-fashioned hard work and dedication not only yield results but can earn one a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest paid entertainer in the hip hop industry.
In the last six years alone, Master P's No Limit Records has sold well over 50 million albums, and to date has garnered 12 multi-platinum, 10 platinum and 12 gold records. His success has earned his inclusion in Fortune magazine's prestigious "40 Richest Under 40" list and Forbes' "Top List of Highest Paid Entertainers."
If that wasn't impressive enough, The New No Limit has made its presence known in not only the music sector, but in the Clothing industry as well with the successful P. Miller Jeans Collections for men and the P. Miller Shorties line for boys and toddlers (the lines are sold in Sears, JC Penny, Kohls and Mervyn's stores nationwide).
At the same time, No Limit Films continues to produce features, including the family comedy "Uncle P" starring Master P and Lil' Romeo currently in post-production. Since the 1997 debut of his first No Limit
film "I'm Bout It", Master P has co-starred in over a dozen films, including major studio releases such as Gone in 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie, "The Players Club" with Ice Cube and "Foolish"
with Eddie Griffin. P also starred in this last year's "Dark Blue" opposite Kurt Russell, "Undisputed" with Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames and "Lockdown". He also recently starred opposite Harrison Ford in
the cop comedy "Hollywood Homicide". Through his No Limit Films, Master P has produced eight films and written and directed six. His television acting credits include guest spots on HBO's "Oz", Fox's "Dark Angel" and UPN's "Girlfriends", "The Hughleys" and "Moesha".
Never forgetting where he came from, Master P started the Los Angeles-based Master P Foundation to help provide jobs for inner city kids nationwide as part of its "Stop the Violence" peace campaign. Master P also spends part of each summer coaching his son Romeo's Junior Olympic AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball team, which helps get talented inner city kids off the street and onto the basketball court. The Houston-based team, The P. Miller Ballers, came in 2nd place at the National Championship the last 2 years.
In addition to his incredible music career, P is the co-executive producer, co-creator and star of Nickelodeon's successful new family comedy series "Romeo!", Master P is set to make his mark in the television industry. And he's happy to cede top billing to his talented son, Lil Romeo, as the duo mirror their real-life family roles onscreen in the music driven sitcom.

Mason and scriptwriter Simon Boyes evoke John Hough's 1973 paranormal gothic favourite, The Legend of Hell House, fiendishly mashing it together with the crass literary stylings of Irvine Welsh and serving it up with a devilish wink to the audience. Operating under a tight budget, Mason displays considerable creative vigour. He is aided by Andrew Howard's intense performance as the brutal anti-hero, deftly flipping from pained vulnerability to savage rage. Berkeley is the story of Ben Sweet (Nick Roth), an eighteen year old middleclass boy who comes to UC Berkeley in 1968 to study accounting and avoid the draft. There begins an odyssey through sex, drugs, rock and roll, and political activism which turns his conservative world upside down, and leaves him on a path of exploration and self-discovery, far from the life of his father, Sy (Henry Winkler).
Director's Statement
Why did I make this film? Why does anyone make any film? I thought it was relevant, and it was a journey for me to explore why I became who I've become. At eighteen, I was an innocent. I won't say my whole peer group was, but we weren't afraid of so many things... we were curious, hopeful, and as I engaged in the anti-war movement I felt more empowered. I thought I could have it all... make great political films, travel, be an intellectual and part of a socialist revolution.
Like my protagonist, I went to college because it was expected of me. It was an easier choice, because I needed the student deferment to avoid going to Viet Nam. In high school I defended my dad's Republicanism, and within two years I was calling him a "capitalist pig."
After I had dealt with my divorce in JACK THE DOG, and my sisters murder in MANHOOD, I felt I should make a film about my transformation from nice, middleclass Jewish boy to long-haired radical filmmaker; not because I thought myself so remarkable, but because I thought I was so very much a symbol of my generation. At the same time, my son, Nick was entering college and had decided to go to Berkeley and study Philosophy.
It seemed a wonderful idea to collaborate with Nick and revisit a time like no other. Looking back, my choices seemed so arbitrary. I remembered a great deal, but understood very little.
All I knew was I started college as a conservative who would play golf and go into his dad's carpet business, and ended it uncertain, having abandoned golf and exploring the possibility that I might be a poet or a novelist. I still have my doubts, but thirty-five years later I remain grateful for every young man and woman who crossed my path. They all left their mark on my memory, and guided me a bit to the music. At Berkeley I learned to fly.
