Innovative, stylish, hip-hop, mixed with soulful harmonies, blended with neck breaking beats and insane turntablism. L.A.'s finest.
Fresh ideas, blazing talent, creative rhymes and undeniable grooves are only part of what is bringing Ostrichheads music to forefront of the LA hip hop movement. An underground, street savvy kinsman of groups like the Jurassic 5, Beastie Boys, and The Black Eyed Peas, Ostrichhead delivers the kind of music that transports people to another frame of mind, inspires them, then kicks their ass with first class performances. Tearing up L.A. clubs like the House of Blues, The Knitting Factory, Key Club, Viper Room, among others, the group has quickly come to be considered one of L.A.s premiere Hip Hop collectives. Theyve performed with Kool Keith, Old Dirty Bastard, Aceyalone, Lyrics Born, Dub Cat, Awol One, 2Mex, The Alkoholics, Jimmy Cliff, Sir Mix-a-lot and Digital Underground to name a few and have toured across the U.S. & Europe. Why might you ask, have you not heard of them? For the past 4 years Ostrich Head has remained a true underground sensation, relying on word of mouth, killer live shows and raw talent to pack houses and turn heads. Theyve released underground singles and been featured on mixed tapes as well as commercials and independent film soundtracks. They recently were showcased on the video game Tiger Woods PGA Golf 2004 and wrote the theme song for the 2005 skid row documentary, Life In A Basket. Music Connection magazine placed them in its Hot 100 Unsigned Bands of 2005. From a chance run-in at a Monterey, CA freestyle battle to the 5-piece collective that is currently rocking the L.A. scene, Ostrichhead is the sum of all its parts. MCs Loreaxe, Calmentz and Nowonder all bring a different stylistic swagger to the mic, while DJs Mes-E-Recspin and Ricketts the Wax Buckler lay down irresistibly funky beats. Singer Lyndsay Haldorson (SayWhat!?) keeps the boys in line, bringing a soulful melodic vocal that rounds out each and every hook-laden tune. As Ostrichhead moves forward with plans to record a full-length record, the band continues to build their underground appeal throughout the L.A. and San Francisco Bay area as well as the hunt for a major label deal. Their music video for Freak Show Carnival is due out at the end of summer. Check Myspace.com/ostrichhead for the latest songs and updates
