I think what you are doing is noble, no doubt.
Religion is holding us back as a species.

Please explain to me why so many African Americans are so religious?
Especially the women.
White slave owners didn't want their slaves to be educated but hey, here's some religion.
That is a testament to how religion can control people and knowledge can set them free.
You would think A.A.'s would reject Christianity with a vengeance.
I don't get it.
Any thoughts?

I like your depth of thinking here so Im going to entertain the question. People pray to god to be apart of something outside of their own mind or world. To alleviate distress, to concentrate on goals, to reason with reality, to talk to god is a way of talking to yourself. Prayer is a goal.

For some, I dont pray because I think the powers that be are beyond language. I hate when religious people think they are better than me because they pray to god in a church or do or dont do certain things. I hate religious intolerance. I am no atheist I am agnostic. Feel free to entertain my view.

Maybe you don't know, but there is a serious problem with eternal consequences we all have. You are loved as God's special creation, but because God is all holy you are cut off from Him by your wickedness and under His judgment. The Bible tells of God's one solution: Jesus, fully God and fully sinless man, ransomed us to God through His death on the cross. He paid our sin-debt and rose from the dead as proof that He is the way and the truth. Be reconciled to God! Repent {turn from sin) and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
