Hi. You must enjoy watching San Francisco Taiko Dojo perform if you download their videos onto here. I too am a taiko drummer but for another group. However I had a workshop with this group last week with the group's Rising Stars and I met Seiichi Tanaka. Although he is really tough with his own group, he is really nice to guests.

I think this form of drumming requires incredible stamina and "heart" more than that of contemporary drumming? It just looks so physically demanding! Kudos to those women Taiko drummers! I'm a rudimental drumming freak but I gotta say, Taiko drumming is so raw it brings out the beast within!

Question about Taiko:
Do you guys ever use metronomes or devices like "Dr. Beat" when rehearsing? Anyway, I love Taiko. It's a beauitful and powerful art form. Keep up the good work. |
