I was spending some time in North Carolina in the area that my fathers side of the family has lived for Hundreds of years and wound up writing this song as a poem. Then I put it away and a couple of years later I was working on a piece of music when out of the blue a thought came to me and I dug the poem out of the archives and it was a perfect fit. I had never written a song in this fashion before and so was a great experience as a writer. I hope you enjoy it.
A special "thank you" to my wife Christine who directed and shot the footage and also edited the video. Christine's Channel: http://www.youtube.com/Christine66

Walking in My Father's Land ~ written by Gary Noland - (copyright 2008, all rights reserved)
Walking in my Father's Land / Even though I never knew the man / All of whom and what he was / Has a lot to do with who I am / There is more to it than meets the eye / It's like a classic piece of art / There's a primal urge to scream and cry / For there's a beating rhythm in the heart/ And I go walking / in my Father's land / I am talking / to a gentle wind / Now I'm talking / to myself again / Walking alone / No memories, just fabled stories / It's like the hour glasses sand / Dreams that fizzled into glory / Walking in my Fathers land / Those who came first were drawn into the past / By time who has a mighty hand / I've learned that dreams of men can't last / While walking in my Father's land / And I go walking in my Father's land / I am talking to a gentle wind / Now I'm talking to myself again / Walking alone / There are two signs written out for man / One is on stone above his grave / The other's written in his heart that only, Christ can save /And I go walking in my Father's land/And I'm talking to myself again / Walking alone /

She Cries, original song written by Gary Noland.
Lyrics: She Cries
She closes her eyes at the end of the day She wonders how life ever got away And she cries - All night long And she cries - All night long
She crawls into bed with a glass of wine Hoping it'll help ease the pain this time But she cries - All night long And she cries - All night long
Chorus
And she don't know how, it'll all work out She goes through life, with so many doubts And she tries to see that, time will heal the pain Oh, but time is slow, and she won't let go She can't remember ever, feeling this low And she cries - All night long And she cries - All night long
She wakes up early for work the next day So much on her mind that it starts to weigh And she cries - all night long And she cries - all night long
She meets for lunch with the girls at noon They want to talk about it but it's way too soon And she cries -All night long And she cries -All night long
Chorus

Somewhere the darkness out shines the light Somewhere the wrongs have out right the rights Somewhere the love was lost in the night And your alone - All alone.
Life on the fast lane is hard to explain. Getting on is easy like a slow moving train The rides all bumpy and full of pain And you're alone all alone.
Chorus: Going down's easy but not worth the pain Some things in life are so hard to explain Your going down roads that you'd thought You'd not walk down before. Going downs easy but not worth the thrill Some things in life are just overkill And this old world is spinning spinning out of control
Your looking up for answers and you only see below Looking to the right and left with no place to go. You're walking through life with such a heavy load And your alone - All alone.
Chorus

- I See What I See - I know how it is I been down that road myself I can see how you feel When your down so low.
I say some things that I should never let go If I've gone too far. well just let me know.
Chorus I've seen what I 've seen and I won't let go
I've seen what I've seen I know what I know I've been a fool you've been one too theres only one thingleft for us to do we can fall in love
True love is hard to find sometimes you settle for less good hearts left behind without any regrets
Sweet love don't go to far out on that limb it may break you may fall back into the arms of him.

Love is the Answer
Tears fall down like the driving rain Hearts will harden like steel as they prepare to battle again Words fly out like a drunken rage aimed at places that cause the most pain they seem to delight in the battles they wage
Nobody wins everyone loses when hates step on in it only confuses And Love is the answer that everyone refuses and nobody wins the game.
Memories they come and go late at night they seem to take hold you'll awake to find you've just grown old
Nobody wins everyone loses when hates step on in it only confuses And Love is the answer that everyone refuses and nobody wins the game.

Woke up late again today Third time this week I'd say Lost my job and I lost the pay And my woman -- well she ran away
~ Chorus ~
Wrote a letter to the president First, first class mail I've sent Damn it's hard just to pay the rent I need a job with the government
~ Chorus ~ It's getting hard It's not getting easier It's getting hard It's not getting easier
Didn't I see you Monday With your Sunday best Didn't I see you holdin' hands Girl my life's a mess
Didn't I see you walkin' Didn't I see you standin' Didn't I hear you wantin' me But you're with another man
~ Chorus ~
Thank you to my wife, "Christine66" for videotaping and getting me up on the Tube.
