Hey There! My name is BluesBeaten Redshaw, a name given to me by the great blues gal Cherry Lee Mewis.

Im 15 and play home built, old and vintage guitars with my own soulful style. I also pick up and get down with my speciality homebuilt 1 sting electric Diddley Bows.

I started guitar 3 years ago by picking up chords from local musicians and bands. I was once shown different guitar tunings by a local bass player and guitarist, so I just messed around in these tunings for a while, playing in local open mic sessions and just throwing in a little slide.

I heard the Mississippi hobo Seasick Steve one midnight on Jools Holland and ended up having a little 3 string jam backstage with him in Sheffield. I picked up most of my slide style off him on my home built cigar box guitars and Diddley bows, before I put it all down on my guitars.

I feel at one with that bluesy feel and sound. The music sets my internal atmosphere and my lyrics just tell you damn straight how I feel.

I just keep playing and jamming with all the folks I meet along the way. Bass player Dead Fred Dave, who I've recently been recording with and Drummer Ian help me into my groove.

One listen to a blues track such as the late great Muddy Waters, Mannish Boy got me going down deeper and deeper into the hill country and delta of Mississippi and find such artists as Lonnie Pitchford and Compton Jones. Im inspired by the history and hardship that drove the blues to what we know today. Other inspirations youll find in my record box will be the modern indie band the Ting Tings, the Norwegian vocalist Ida Maria and the fantastic Do-wop Indie singer VV Brown.

Early this year I released my first EP Songs from Shed 2 (which is where all my instruments are built) and Im nearing the completion of the 2nd record which will be a full album featuring Dead Fred Dave, a friend Ian on Drums and a few others that just turn up. You can find recordings from my last EP on my myspace page. Ive been adding videos to my youtube page (links below) for about 2 years now, so check them out and let me have your feedback please, itll be positively received.
