Ignazio Mottola obtained his architecture diploma in 1987 from the Politecnico di Milano. To supplement his architectural training he worked for 4 years in Munich in particular for the Grüner Schnell cabinet and in Rome where he collaborated with the Purini Thermes cabinet. In 1991 he settled in Paris and collaborated with the Catherine Furet and Gilles Bouchez agencies. He was also responsible for the design of the Grand Tour shopping centre in Bordeaux. In 1994 thanks to his skills in digital design he joined the CD-Rom publisher Montparnasse Multimedia which was one of the world's best digital creation studios at the time. Its works include "Orsay Museum" "Cosmos" "XXth Century" "A History of France" which are much appreciated by critics and the general public and have also won prizes on several occasions. In 2001 he collaborated with Realviz in the field of 3D visualization for the Web. In 2004 he managed the European research project "CHIPS" for the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI / Les Ateliers) focussing on new digital hybrid products and services and on interactive architecture. Parallel to this activity he collaborated with the start-up Newtgames to set up geolocalization services for mobile telephony. Ignazio Mottola has a very long experience in the field of 3D animation for architects and designers: Jean Nouvel Christian de Portzamparc Yves Saint Laurent Paco Rabanne Eiffage Group 6 Architects Vinci Antony Bechu the Réunion des Musées Nationaux have already entrusted projects to him. He also works on reactive architecture concepts and productions: his installation "the Lombroso Machine" based on real time detection of human silhouettes was exposed during the Nuit Blanche 2005 in Paris and has also been featured on "Rhizome" and "we make money not art".
