Hey dude, thanks for the add. What are you videos about? That MTD one you sent was confusing.

Hello sir I thank you for your truss rod and intonation video, because of it I was able to fix my own intonation on my five string, but I wanted to ask you as a developing bassist what do you look for in a bassist and what in your opinion should a bassist practice or develop in his music. It's hard now these days with so many styles and ways to play such an instrument. thank you very much for playings bass and passing on informative ideas to others that find your information useful

Bryan here from ireland. very cool channel you have there, great bass sound too, makes my headphones vibrate just the way i like it. im making my first forays into jazz music at the moment, its daunting stuff to have to get your head around but looks like its going to be worth it. |

Hey Big Phil,
I worked with Mike at Tobias Guitars from 1983-92. We are still great friends and I love the man dearly. He is a rare individual both personally and professionally. I consider myself so lucky to know him. BL |

Hi Timock,
The truss rod pulls the neck back to balance the strings pulling the neck up. Heavier gage strings require more truss rod tightening (in general) to keep the neck in the correct position (not straight but with a little forward bow to allow the strring to vibrate without fretting out on the neck). The biggest problem with neck/truss rods is over adjustment. less is better. |

Hi there... I'm a guitarist who wants to learn bass and just bought myself a bass a few days ago. I'm realizing already that the action is a little bit too high and will need to be adjusted. After watching your video on intonation, I got a better grasp on what that will mean. I still need to figure out how the truss rod comes into play, but I really appreciated your video and your down-to-earth way of describing things.

I really don't see it as my torment at all . I do see it as a simple matter of ignorance... I actually did this (setting up basses) as a profession at one time.
