BIKE FLORIDA is a non-profit organization supporting educational and promotional programs, workshops and events that foster safe bicycling in Florida. We began as a
small (one hundred riders) across-state cycling event in the spring of 1994. We have grown to a multi-event organization that, with the help of proceeds from our "Share the Road" specialty license plate, hosts numerous bicycle safety education workshops for teachers, school resource officers and community safety volunteers as a support to the FDOT sponsored "Florida Traffic and Bicycle Safety Education Program." Over the past 15 years, our spring event has become a training ground for bicycle riders who are just beginning to enjoy touring, and has grown to 1000 riders. We provide complete support for the weeklong bicycle camping tour, including luggage trucks, mechanical and medical support, sag support, rest stops, signage, maps of the daily route, and all needs
including meal options at the host overnight sites. Bike Florida welcomes riders of all ages and skills, and holds a "rolling road 1" basic road riding skills course as part of the event for those who want to improve there riding techniques.

The event moves around the State each spring, bringing awareness for the benefits of bicycling (and economic impact) to the communities the riders visit. It is a fun filled week, for all who participate or volunteer as helpers on the event.

The fall event focuses on the "Share the Road" campaign, and varies in location and
type of event. Next fall will follow the "St.Johns to the Sea Loop" with an invitational ride, setting the stage for this incredible 230 mile 5 county Loop
