How long can the Lion roam in its kingdom? With their populations falling (recent data shows numbers to be only from 15,000 to 40,000) and man invading its territory, experts feel the king may soon fall. I think the lion situation one is interesting and brings up much debate on how/if we can conserve the king of Africa. Can we save the lion, or is it doomed simply by the amount of people on this planet? Although some conservation groups back trophy hunting, I do not fully agree and tend to support those parks that do not see hunting, nor "walk with a lion" programs as an option for the lions conservation. Thanks so much for watching- Brian http://www.bcprints.com

Check out some footage and info about the Hyena. The Spotted Hyena is a terrestrial carnivore native to Africa. They, like their enemies the lion, are a top predator and an animal worth protecting. Predators like the lion, hyena, and tiger help keep their ecosystems balanced and healthy. Protecting their habitats will ensure us all a better planet. -Hyena footage filmed at the Olare Orok Conservancy http://www.oocmara.com -and the Maasai Mara Park, both in Kenya, Africa.

*THE TIGER (Report) *Dedicated to those guards who put their life on the line for low pay to protect the tiger and its habitat.
Total captive tiger numbers= 10,000 +/- in various situations. (most are Amur/Bengal mixed)
Tiger numbers in the wild: (based on the most recent and factual data I could find) BENGAL TIGER= 1,300-1,500 (S.Asia: India) Low numbers due to loss of habitat with population boom, need for agriculture, illegal hunting, and poor protection. AMUR/ SIBERIAN TIGER= 400-500 (E. Asia: Russia, N.E. China) Low numbers due to illegal hunting in vast unprotected habitat as well legal hunting killing off their natural prey. Logging companies (some mafia influenced, clearing forest) INDOCHINESE TIGER= 700-1,200 (S.E. Asia: Vietnam, Cambodia) Low numbers due to fragmented habitat, devastation of forest for palm oil production, illegal hunting and poor protection. SUMATRAN TIGER= 250-300 (W. Indonesia: Sumatra) Low numbers due to loss of habitat, illegal hunting and poor protection. MALAYAN TIGER= 400-600 (S.E. Asia: Malaysia, Thailand) *decleared a separate subspecies from the Indochinese tiger in 2004. Low numbers due to loss of habitat from logging and agriculture. SOUTH CHINA TIGER= 10? (S.China) declared extinct in 2003. (One photo recently taken is being called a hoax.) Low numbers due to China's waiting until 1977 to outlaw hunting. No protection from illegal hunting. Loss of habitat. (a captive born male S. China tiger was born 11-23-07 in Africa)
WHAT I THINK WILL SAVE THE WILD TIGER: Letting U.S. corporations know that we want to be aware where our resources like Palm Oil come from. Our government letting China know we are unhappy with their wildlife policies (namely tiger parts used in traditional medicine) and poor protection of their endangered animals. Better protection for the tigers in their native habitats and their prey species by properly arming and funding the anti-poaching units, and better regulations allowing them to search for illegal trade. Less corrupt local governments to allow the people a chance at an economy that doesn't rely on illegal trade or over farming the land. More funding being sent over, possibly a tiger tax on all that own/exhibit tigers to go towards their conservation. The serval (leptailurus serval) is one of nine species of cat that calls Africa its home. To see one of these small felines is a rare find on safari in Kenya, let alone at night. Servals like many animals, simply need protected habitat to keep their populations up in the wild. I do not support owning the serval or any hybrid from it as a pet. Thanks. JAMBO, Welcome to a night drive in Kenya. Night drives are not usually allowed at parks, but can at times be done on private land or conservancies. It is a great way to view the seldom seen nocturnal animals, and to keep track of where the predators are moving along to. Vote for your favorite by watching the repsonse videos for the lion or the tiger.-So far lion is winning... Over 1 million views for this dumb video. Thanks:)
Not since Coke vs Pepsi, Cubs vs Sox, Blonds vs Brunettes, have we seen such a heated debate. People have spent countless hours on the LION VS TIGER topic. And now we have the answer caught on tape. (*no animals were harmed in the making of this here video)
To help wild TIGERS: http://www.savethetigerfund.org
And LIONS: http://www.lionconservation.org
Some facts: LIONS have a recognized 8 sub species with the largest getting over 500 pounds. They are listed as a Threatened Vulnerable species and current wild populations are only around 30,000.
TIGERS only have 6 sub species left (one being the S. China tiger which has not been seen in the wild for a long time) and the largest can get well over 600 pounds. They are endangered and their wild population is sadly around 3,000. Featured in this video is a white tiger and they are not a sub species of tiger but rather are over bred in captivity for entertainment.

I find it strange that the state animal of Florida is being driven to extinction by the state picking development and the quick money it brings over its own wildlife. (Wildlife does bring in money over a longer period of time, as that is why so many come down here. or is it?) Even though their numbers are slightly higher than reported in the 1980's after decades of over hunting there are more killed on the roads than ever before. In 2006, 11 endangered panthers were killed by vehicles. And in 2007, a record 15 were killed. *You will hear me say 14 twice in the video as in the time it took from filming to producing another cat was killed. What will be the future of predators here in America? I often look to other countries and wonder why they can't protect their wildlife, and often forget about the poor job we do at it ourselves. The police trying to ticket speeders and the few protected fenced roadways can only do so much. It is up to us to decide if we really will change the way we use up land and resources to allow room for these beautiful predators. Thanks for watching. For more info on the Panther (cougar/ mountain lion etc...) go to: http://www.floridapanther.org http://www.floridapantherprotection.com http://www.defenders.org http://myfwc.com/panther
*Special thanks to those that appeared in this video and those who helped me collect panther data.

This was filmed in Kenya. I was both filming and trying to take pictures, so that is why it cuts out at times. 3 cheetah had taken down their kill on the Mara and were eating it as quickly as Hyena came in slowly to make sure there weren't lion around. As soon as they saw it was cheetah eating, in they came. Wildlife works in amazing ways. Thanks for watching. -Brian
