In 1999, WBTV, Charlotte's CBS affiliate, celebrated its 50th anniversary. As part of the festivities, the station broadcast a retrospective program featuring clips from the station's past and current programming.
This particular promo, from the early 1980s, shows a maturation of the WBTV logo introduced in 1978. Computer-generated graphics made it possible to render the logo in three dimensions. These graphics nicely complement the montage of scenes from Carolina life and WBTV personalities.

Lifting off on a gorgeous Friday evening from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, space shuttle Atlantis begins an 11-day mission to the International Space Station. The mission, originally scheduled for March 2007, was delayed after a hailstorm in February damaged the external tank.

This was Atlantis's 28th flight into space. Video from NASA TV, as recorded from the Charlotte Government Channel. Background music from MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 12.

Originally opened on Thursday night, August 11, 1988, the second building to carry the name Charlotte Coliseum was imploded on Sunday morning, June 3, 2007. The facility served as the home to the Charlotte Hornets (NBA), the Charlotte Sting (WNBA), the Carolina Cobras (Arena Football) and the Charlotte Bobcats (NBA) during its lifespan. It hosted the 1991 NBA All-Star Game, the 1994 NCAA Men's Final Four, the 1996 NCAA Women's Final Four, as well as the Diet Pepsi Tournament of Champions and the ACC Men's Basketball Tournament. It also appeared in the movies He Got Game, Juwanna Mann, Eddie and The Original Kings of Comedy. And it served as a temporary shelter to house hundreds of people displaced by Hurricane Katrina, in 2005.
In its place, a private development firm will build a mixed-use development called City Park. Some of the material that comprised the Coliseum will be used in the construction of that development.
The implosion was taped over the air from WCNC-TV, Charlotte's NBC affiliate.
