If 180 is too fast for you, slow it down to 170. If 180 is too slow, go up to 190. It takes a long time to notice any results, two months of doing this exercise every day is what it takes. Eventually you'll start hitting speeds of 250. Once you're there, do it for 20 minutes instead of 10. Or half an hour instead of 20. It's tedious but worth it. If you'd like your double bass to get faster, you can do the same exercise, just on the pedals.
Sorry about the novel lawl |

I remember watching a derek roddy dvd, he gave some pretty good advice on wrist speed and endurance. You need a metronome and shitloads of patience though. A stopwatch would be handy too lol. Have a metronome playing at 180 bpm, then start playing 8th notes over and over with your hands without stopping. 8th notes are basically 8 notes every time the metronome loops. Now, to get the most out of this, you play 3 different patterns for fixed amounts of time. Play RRRRLLLL for 5 minutes, then RLRLRLRL for 5 minutes. Make sure you keep an eye on your time for the 5 minutes. DON'T stop.

Chris Adler uses 2 rack toms and 2 floor toms, so yeah, that setup would be good

I sent you the picture, it's in your youtube inbox lol. You have to copy and paste it into the address bar, youtube doesn't let you click links for some reason.
