Cloud Cult is eclectic art indie rock with an overwhelming drive to describe every pssibile rendition of the here-after to its listeners. Described by Pitchfork as "insane genius" and nominated by teh Minnesota Music awards as "Artist of the Year", Cloud Cult has turned down major label record deals in favor of sticking with an environmental record company created by the band's singer/songwriter Craig Minowa.
Despite pursuit from major labels like Universal and Warner, Cloud Cult has chosen to release "The Meaning of 8" independently on its own label Earthology Records in order to continue to adhere to the band's strict environmental ethos. All albums, posters and merchandise are made from organic or recycled materials. All energy consumed in the recording studio and on the road is powered by wind-power.
