This video shows the sacrifice of a lamb as part of the "Feast of Sacrifice" (Eid al-Adha; Kurban Bayarmı) that is celebrated every year by about a billion Muslims. The Islamic holiday has been celebrated for some 1300 years in memory of Abraham's submission to God when he was willing to offer up his son (some 4000 years ago). As part of this holiday kindness is shown to poor neighbors by sharing the meat of the sacrifice. Every day the sacrifice of the Mass is offered up on behalf of about a billion worshipers. When the Eucharist (the wafer of bread) is held up the priest speaks the words, "Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." This is a reminder of Christ's death on the cross just before the first Easter, 2000 years ago. The first the Passover Lamb (Pesach, Pesah, Pesakh) was offered up some 3,500 years ago. The last judgment before the children of Israel left ancient Egypt was upon the first born. A one year old, clean, male lamb, was killed and its' blood was placed on the top and sides of the door posts of each home. The angel of death "passed over" the homes where the blood had been applied. In the homes without the blood the first born died. How do these tie together? The Hebrew prophet, Isaiah wrote (2700 years ago): "He was despised, and forsaken of men, a man of pains, and acquainted with disease, and as one from whom men hide their face: he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely our diseases he did bear, and our pains he carried; whereas we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded because of our transgressions; he was crushed because of our iniquities: the chastisement of our welfare was upon him, and with his stripes we were healed. All we like sheep did go astray, we turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath made to light on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, though he humbled himself and opened not his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before her shearers is dumb; yea, he opened not his mouth." (Isaiah 53:3-7 Jewish Publication Society Bible) When Jesus (Yeshua) of Nazareth died, he fulfilled the Hebrew Scriptures. He died on Mount Golgotha, in the region of Mount Moriah, near to where Abraham offered a ram in place of his son. The timing of his death corresponded with the Jewish Passover. The Scriptures tell us that the Christ (Messiah) died to pay for the sins of the whole world, once and for all. This means no more sacrifices are needed! He died to bear the penalty of your sin and mine. He died as an innocent lamb in the place of we who are guilty. "The burden of our sins He Himself carried in His own body to the Cross and bore it there, so that we, having died so far as our sins are concerned, may live righteous lives. By His wounds yours have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24). The Scriptures promise that all who turn from their own selfish ways and trust in Christ, who died and rose again, will be forgiven of all of their sins, (i.e. 100% past, present and future). If this sounds too simple (or too complex, or too ridiculous) please write me a note and let me know your thoughts. He turn a hardened atheist like me into a lover of God. If you are thirsty, He can give you water that will leave you never thirsting again. Kind Regards, Deniz YouTubeTurkiye7@gmail.com
