Bringing to searing life the terrifying intimacy of hand-to-hand infantry combat, House to House is far more than just another war story. Populated by an indelibly drawn cast of characters, from a fearless corporal who happens to be a Bush-hating liberal to an inspirational sergeant-major who became the author's own lost father figure, it develops the intensely close relationships that form between soldiers under fire. Their friendships, tested in brutal combat, would never be quite the same. Not all of them would make it out of the city alive. What happened to them in their bloody embrace with America's most implacable enemy is a harrowing, unforgettable story of triumph, tragedy, and the resiliency of the human spirit. Staff Sergeant David Bellavia spent six years in the U.S. Army, including some of the most intense fighting of the Iraq War. He has been awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star for his actions in Iraq, and recommended for the Distinguished Service Cross and Medal of Honor for his actions in Fallujah. In 2005, he received the Conspicuous Service Cross (New York State's highest award for military valor) and was inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame. He is the cofounder of Vets for Freedom, an advocacy organization of veterans concerned about the politicization of media coverage of military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. His writing has been published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, National Review, The Weekly Standard, and other publications. He lives in western New York.

Three young, naive and foolhardy friends test their friendships, their bank accounts and their personal safety in an effort to traverse the globe and achieve their childhood dream to become global adventurers.
From Malcolm Douglas to Alby Mangles to Steve Irwin, the legend of the fearless Australian adventurer runs deep in local mythology; of hairy unkept men melding into harsh environments, surviving on their wits and emerging unscathed from some of the most isolated regions of the far-flung world.
For three young men from rural NSW, Ben, Shaun and Danny, the lure of such mythology was too strong to resist. With each sharing a love of the ocean, the group concocted a plan to surf the seven seas of the world, a trip that would see them visit all continents and 25 countries; negotiating a multitude of languages, cultures and environments.
Yet the trio were to discover that adventuring is not all beautiful vistas and sidekick bikini models. Complications, arguments and accidents became the rule, rather than the exception. Danny fell asleep at the wheel in the Northern Territory and ran over a cow. Shaun nearly drowned in the Southern Ocean. Ben drove over the wrong sand dune in the Sahara desert and destroyed their car. They trusted too much in Guatemala and got robbed. Yet more than anything else, they spent nearly every waking hour together-- a lifestyle that came close to killing each other.
Luckily the lads were not alone on the road. Having visited over 55 schools around Australia and talked with students about their then current adventure, the trio would receive support and encouragement that helped them through the toughest of times. The school visits combined the unlikely partnership of surfing and motivational thinking, allowing the trio to share with other young people their dreams, goals and how they intended to achieve them. In return many students related their own dreams and ambitions. The exchange strengthened the trios resolve to see their trip through to the end, regardless of the dangers, poor food and the suspect personal hygiene of Ben, all of which typified a day on the road.
The group departed January 2003 and returned September 2004. In their time on the road they visited Australia, New Zealand, North America, Central America, South America, Norway and Europe, Northwest Africa, South Africa and the many islands of Indonesia.
2007 is being dedicated to bringing this story to the small screen.
