Random stuff about me:
My favorite color is green. I had a parrot named Scout (missing as of 10/3/06) & since then I've adopted 3 other parrots- Charlie (a CAG), Jasper (a red-throated conure) & Oscar (a Meyer's). (No more!) I like animals better than people, tho I am fascinated by people nonetheless. I have ADD, OCD, PTSD & probably a host of other disorders not yet labeled by the psychiatric community. My favorite foods r tomatoes & cheese. I think President Bush is a moron & I can't understand how this country is being run by such psychopaths & hypocritical religious zealots. I love the sun & hate 2b cold & I wish I was on a beach somewhere right now. I live in NYC. I'm seriously addicted 2 youtube (a relatively recent development.) And I want to be a kid when I grow up.

Please note that I strongly believe parrots do NOT make suitable pets. They are essentially wild animals & belong in the wild- not in our homes. I am against the breeding & the sale of birds for the pet trade. Being born in captivity does not mean they are NOT wild animals- it just means they cannot survive in the wild. It is no different than having a tiger as a pet. Both are wild animals & belong in the wild. Unlike dogs & cats, parrots are not domesticated animals. When was the last time you heard of a wild population of poodles or Dalmatians running amok in the rainforests?

Breeders who say they are preserving species by breeding are not being honest. How many breeders release their birds into the wild? None. Nor have they managed to preserve any wild species. Breeders are only ensuring that more & more parrots will be showing up in more & more rescues/shelters/sanctuaries across the country.

If you would like a parrot as a pet, please do extensive research beforehand & ADOPT ONLY! There are WAY too many unwanted & perfectly wonderful parrots in need of good homes.
