This is the 'Station Identification' bumper used between commercials during the 1966-67 broadcast of the ABC mega-hit television show 'The Fugitive', starring David Janssen. This bumper queued the local television network affiliate to identify itself by its call sign. "The Fugitive will continue following station identification" would then be followed by the local TV announcer saying something like, "You're watching WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh." The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) rules dictate that TV stations must periodically identify themselves to the viewers. At that time, station ID bumpers were a regular part of American television viewing and this method was used well into the 1970s but was soon replaced with the station logo graphics at the bottom of the screen that viewers now see today. Anyway, this piece of mindless info should not overshadow that fact that 'The Fugitive' was one of the best TV shows ever created and had some of the best writers and screen talent assembled. Even the final episode which aired on August 29, 1967 captured a then record-breaking audience with 72% of all TVs in the country tuned in. Watching 'The Fugitive' is well worth your time, buy the DVDs and see why the drama and suspense of this show surpasses much of what's offered on television today. The show ran for four seasons from 1963-67. Seasons 1-3 are in b/w and the final 4th season is in color.

Here are some funny 'behind the scenes' during the production of the 2-hr television special 'An Eight is Enough Wedding' which aired in 1989. This second made-for-television reunion film finds eldest son David on the brink of marriage to a divorcee. However, some of his sisters would prefer to see a reunion with his ex-wife Janet. Interesting to watch. btw - Just found out that John Majhor passed away this past January. He started out in radio in the US and moved to Toronto where he was their beloved Rock Jock for many years on radio and TV. He eventually landed a co-host spot on the late eighties late night entertainment show, 'After Hours.' A talented personality who's life was cut short by cancer.

Here is a final scene and closing credits from the television show, Combat! In this episode titled, 'Heritage,' a sensitive explosives expert (Charles Bronson) faces a crisis of conscience when assigned to blow up an enemy stronghold containing several priceless and irreplaceable works of art. Series ran from 1962-67 on the ABC Television network and centered on the lives of the men from King Company. For 5 1/2 years the men faced the enemy starting with the landing on Omaha Beach-D Day June 6, 1944. You see how they evolved from a squad of men to a family. Drama, action and suspense were part of the show. If you enjoyed this show as a kid - or - if you want to experience some serious television that would compare, if not surpass anything that's on today, Combat! is well worth your time.

This is one of the most poignant episodes ever written for the TV series, Combat! Episode
This is one of the most poignant episodes ever written for the TV series, Combat! Episode is titled, 'Cry in the Ruins.' It starts out with King Company squaring off with a German patrol in a village only to be interrupted by a French woman's cry for help. She has lost her baby in the ruins and pleads for the soldiers' assistance in her search. The American and German soldiers call a truce and put the war aside to help her search for hours in a collective effort only to find that she is delusional and actually lost her child in the war a couple years earlier. In this scene, with their hopes just shattered, they realize that there is nothing more that they can do but pick up their weapons and rejoin the war to fight another day. They met as enemies, but for one moment in time they came together in a humanitarian effort to help save a life. Very haunting episode and one of the best in the series. Also happened to be directed by Vic Morrow. Series aired from 1962-'67 and is well worth your time watching, buy the DVDs.

Here is the closing scene of the pilot episode with Pete, Julie and Linc walking the pier
Here is the closing scene of the pilot episode with Pete, Julie and Linc walking the pier after closing the lid on their first bust. Capt. Greer is very pleased with them and asks that they report back to work on Monday. Great show that took the cops out of the uniforms and squad cars and put them on the street as unsuspecting young adults. Terrific drama, action and suspense. For it's time (1968), the show was considered gritty and raw, but so was real life.
