In my view, there are no "beginner" or "advanced" ocarinas. Instead, they are different in characteristics and quality. Better quality ocarinas will stay with you for longer.

In my opinion, the 12-hole ocarina is the most versatile ocarina, and I would recommend the 12-hole to anyone regardless of skill level.
