I just watched your video on Kosovo, was highly impressed. The balkans is a region close to my thoughts. I know you are probably not a Marxist, but nevertheless, I would like to ask you if you agree with this interpretation:

Nationalism, at least in the form in which it exhibits itself in the Balkans, is purely a factor of capitalist production and social relations. Nationalism is needed by the capitalist class for two important reasons: one, the Bourgeoisie needs a national state to secure for its possession the home/domestic market; two, the Bourgeoisie needs a method to divert working class anger at another source, so as to prevent a proletarian internationalist class-consciousness.

Therefore, any attempt to solve the problem of state formation in the Balkans on the basis of ethnicity, or historico-cultural factors in general is hypocritical and doomed to fail, and on top of that certain to spur on genocide.
