Are you telling me that a government who has enough recourses to fly helicopters and planes and unnecessary soldiers over to foreign countries, cannot take the simple action of going down a few states over to send aid to their own people? The victims of the hurricane should have waited hours and not days, weeks, months. If the president/government are not responsible for the disasters in their own country, I don't know who is. Perhaps we should start worrying about our own people before going out and playing "the savoir" for "others".

Katrina wasn't bush's fault and the slow response wasn't caused by racism, The reason it was such a disaster was that the citizens of New Orleans were dumbasses and didn't get the fuck outta there when a category 5 hurricane hit a coastal city below sea level. It's not the government's responsibilty to help in a natural disaster, it's the mayor of New Orleans responsibilty to make sure that people get out safely.

New orleans is a poor city - the infrastructure was not there to begin with. Local response would have been the best - waiting on Uncle Sam is not logical. I would think race played into this as poor blacks living together had best leave and melded into mainstream US as have had other ethnic groups over the decades
