Francisco Medavog had his first taste of the glamorous world fashion at the
tender age of 13 and has been captivated ever since. At the age of 17, Medavog enrolled at
F.I.D.M. in Los Angeles and began to study fashion design. This was the same year that he began collecting vintage clothing as
a way of studying the French seams and couture construction that had become
his obsession. On June 16th 1991, Francisco showed his first collection In
Mexico. In 1992,he was asked to represent Mexico with his Tenochitlan 3038
collection at EXPO Seville. Over 800 people from all over the world came to
see Medavog's collection that was inspired by ancient Mexican history and
set to music by the Santana family.
Since then Medavog has been living and working in the U.S. as a collector
and designer of one-of-a-kind couture. What began as Francisco's hobby has
become a full time occupation as one storage unit became two, three, and
then four. Medavog¹s collection features vintage that dates back to 1700¹s
but he favors the art deco period and the decades since. Designers in his
collection include:
Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Andre Courreges, Emilio Pucci,
Rudi Gernreich, Emanuel Ungaro, Christian Lacroix, Gianni Versace, Halston, Stephen Burrows,
Elsa Schiaparelli & dozens of others.
Even as fashion changes and vintage clothes become more expensive and more
difficult to find, Medavog believes that collecting vintage is one thing
that will never go out style. His motto in life is:
